    Eman Style Skirts

I think this hass been asked before, but I can't find the thread. If I wanted to make an Eman style skirt, looks narrow but is bias cut in the back, how do I do it? Does anyone have a similar pattern or can explain the pieces? Here are a couple of example photos of the skirt style:

    EM35

    TIA!

There have been several threads here about these types of skirts. They are actually 1/4 circle--one piece.

I'm glad you asked this question. I'm curious to know as well.

Thanks Souzan. Do you remember the title of the thread/s? I couldn't find it through the search. 1/4 circle helps though -- so the slit is the two edges of the 1/4 circle. Is the front slit edge the one that is on the straight of grain?

Yes the slits are the long edges of the fabric piece. If you want to see how this would work just trace a circle on a piece of scrap fabric and fold in 4ths. Then cut a semi-circle at the corner for the waist and then cut the long folded edges. This will give you 4 1/4 circles to play with. Barbie doll Eman skirts!

Actually, maybe I'll make one for my 2 year old first to test out the pattern! I could sew the slit together down further. ..l;,

    Thanks

For the Sahar-style skirt, check post #85 here: http://www.bhuz.com/forum/fitness-be...ra-made-3.html

I have been in love with that first costume you posted for quite some time. I don't think it has a 1/4 panel skirt. If you look at the last photo (rear view), you can see a seam. At least I think I can see one. (I'm not completely sure about that second one, either. There's some slight gathering at the hip in the front.) Many Eman Zaki skirts seem to have more pieces, like this: https://www.dahlal.com/ctl/showcostu...FC_back_lg.jpg whereas the Sahar skirts are usually the 1/4 panel.

Is there a pattern that's close enough to this that can be used?

Jetgirl, I think if you search this forum using "Bias Skirt", you'll come up with a bunch of different threads thay may help you.

Yeah, kinda like a hipscarf shaped seam. Maybe the pattern would have a 1/4 circle and a flattened triangle on top? Hmm, but what would the top edge of the 1/4 circle look like?
