Any belt ideas if I don't want to completely cover it in matching fabric?
I have this lovely antique patterned warm silver lame' that I am covering a bra in. I want to make a belt that goes with it, but isn't completely covered in the same fabric. Any ideas for incorporating the same fabric in smaller doses? I want it to not look matchy-matchy-, but to not look hodge-podgey either.

Alternating shapes or patches of material, using your silver lame as one?

You could add ruching of a contrast fabric, maybe a chiffon, that you can then incorporate elsewhere in the costume, maybe as a modesty panel or veil.

-Use it as a border all around your belt.
-make center panels out of it and use matching beading to festoon swags between them
-what's your costume's theme? Say it is "young maiden" for example, you could make rosettes or small flower shaped appliques out of it and sprinkle them throughout

I was thinking of medallion shapes. Then use another matching fabric as a base? I was also thinking of a ruched base of a plainer fabric with vertical pieces of the matching fabric (holding it together if you will).
I'll check out "what I am working on" again.
Giggling thinking of naming my costume "young maiden".

LOl, I know, not the best exmple. It's all I could think of on short notice.
I took to code-naming all my projects bc I used to refer to them only color... until I had more than one of the same color and ended up mixing things up or buying multiples.

oooh, I'm going to start code naming all my projects. My coin will be Miss Moneypenny (or Goldfinger?)... Maybe they can all have Bond Girl names like Honey Ryder and Kissy Suzuki.

Feel free! It can be a great source of inspiration too.
-pennies?! Dude, go for gold. Hmmm... Honey Ryder: soft gold lame with jet beads? (My 2 cents to your "moneypenny" fund, haha.)
Just thought of something - if you have a dark fabric that doesn't fray too much, you could make your belt out of it and have cut outs revealing your lame underneath. Think stained glass window effect, only with silver lame instead of colored glass.
