You be the judge : akward or beautiful photo

    What do you think?

I'm in love with it but would like to know how it reads to the rest of you and what the gp might think...

    You are gorgeous, sweety!

For me, though, something about how there is "scrunching" around the neck, the energy there seems cut off at a weird angle. Remove the costume, paint your body white, shave your head and you would resemble a butoh dancer. NOT A BAD THING, mind you, I'm a huuuuuge butoh fan...

    Beautiful.

Your leg and feet look strong, there is a lot of movement, good color, active face, and the pose is interesting. Very alive. Nice!

It is a beautiful photo, with a lovely dream-like quality, and a strong sense of energy. You look gorgeous.

I agree with Azhia, though, the angle of the neck seems very odd, almost disturbing or painful to look at. And your feet were caught flat and unposed -- although the fact that the right foot is just off the floor adds to the sense of energy and immediacy. Are the feet and angle of the head what made you think it might feel awkward? I don't think the feet are a big deal at all by themselves, but the two together gives a strong sense of angularity to an otherwise flowing curve. Like Azhia said, the energy seems cut off abruptly at the top and bottom.

I still love it, though. Those are imperfections, but they don't ruin the shot for me.

I agree with what Azhia wrote... but other than that it's a beautiful pose.

At first I didn't like your feet and felt it would be better cropped somehow, but I've come back to look at it twice now and it's growing on me. It's a really unique and expressive shot.

as a dancer's point of view, it's not the best picture as the others said about the feet and neck etc.

but as a photographer's girlfriend point of view, photo has lovely and interesting flow of lines (not body line but all the lines...) and a good balance of the pink costume and the grey background and your skin tone. i think it's nicely framed and not need any cropping. if you look at some fashion magazines especially those designer adverts you'll see a lot of models in strange poses but those somehow make interesting and intrigue pictures. and your picture i think is perfect i keep looking at it because it's so interesting and different and of course beautiful.

You're beautiful and the energy in your torso and arms is amazing. But it makes your head look foreshortened. I'd be worried it would twist right off. : )

I think it's an amazing shot - full of life and energy, but best appreciated by the dance communities vs. the gp.

I think it's a STUNNING action shot. It'd be a shame if you didn't use this, Anya.

I like it. It's a great movement shot. One nitpick - on your left hip, it looks like your underpinnings are showing.

I have to disagree here. I love the costume and you are beautiful but the pose looks awkward for me. MY eye is drwn immediatly to the arm that is growing from your chin.

I think it is not a 100% winner. Beautiful, no doubt, but awkward, yes. I wouldn't use it personally for advertising, but would keep it for myself.

I have to agree, and I think it would work much better for me if your chin had been lifted up off your shoulder. It's obviously an action shot though, so it's often luck of the draw when the camera catches you.

I just keep hearing Miss Tyra Banks saying, "Don't lose your neck!" in the back of my mind. But then again, I watch waaaaay to much ANTM.

I actually thought the feet were cute.

My favorite thing is that although it's a still photo, you look like you are moving and not "posed"

I don't have a trained eye to see the neck thing that Ahzia pointed out, but I can see what she means. Overall I like the shot.

thanks gals, i appreciate your honesty. i don't think i'll use it for promo but instead for myself...it makes me feel like i'm moving and gorgeous (especially if i look at the emotion instead of weird neck! ;) )

When I was initially scrolling down to view I thought it would be a back shot...it looked like your head was on backwards! .w.: But then I finished scrolling down (and I could see more than just your head and shoulders) I thought that the overall shot was rather lovely. So, I agree with you choosing not to use it for promo... but I'd put it in my studio! ..g.:

I like it - it's a very unusual pose, in my opinion unique and seemes very spontaneous. The neck does not bother me at all, I kept going back, and for me it's fine.
The feet... first I didn't notice anything, of course after someone brought attention to it, I looked back, and thought the right foot could be photoshopped to point downward.
I would fix one thing though: your waistline and hips on the right side (your right) could be smoothed out a little.
Other than that I really like it.

I love it but I think it's more of a dancer's photo than one for your business cards. I love strength in your legs and torso
