Thread: # of Seed Beads Needed?

Hi again ladies, I decided to go with the seed beads and now Im ordering them. I read in one thread somebody mentioned a full costume takes about 1kilo, does that include swag fringe (a la Great Loop)?

What is your bra size? What is your belt size? How much beading do you plan on doing, ie three seed beads between every sequin? How much fringe do you want? Do you have your design planned out?

There are a lot of factors that go into deciding how many beads to buy. It's always better to buy a little more than you will need because dye lots change and the next set of beads may not exactly match the first beads you bought.

Sorry if this wasn't much help but I always have a hard time with this part as well.

It's fine, I think now I understand why the pro costumes are always SOOO expensive LOL

Sorry i forgot to answer YOUR questions lol Maybe 2 kilos be enough? I dont plan on using sequins, not sure about how much fringe as it's hard to tell by the picture. Im a 36C and my hips are 44"

Yep dye lots can vary in beads as well.

Do you have your design worked out on paper? That might be able to help you estimate.

There's a certain satisfaction you get out of making your own costume but then you will definitely run into those days that you wished you had just bought one, lol.

I will if Im not too embarassed lol A friend of mine is a restaurant dancer and tomorrow Im going to go see hers in real life, so I can get a better idea of what Im gonna be dealing with lol

Im not the best seamstress, but if I can get a look in real life, what Im suppose to be making I definetely feel more confident :) Anybody else feel this way?

And the more you do, the better you get. That's the thing with manual skills: with imagination, there's no limit to what you can do.

Oh, and to answer you question: it's a guessing game. Sometimes I think I have it worked out and then it turns out that I want my swags smaller, or they need to drop lower or what have you. Roll with the punches.
