    Silver eyeshadow...grrr!

Can anyone suggest a silver eyeshadow that actually STAYS silver? I have two different kinds, but they both turn pale blue on my skin...which is definitely not what I'm going for.

I suspect it could be your skin's undertone turning it "blue." The silver may not be pigmented enough, either, I don't know what brand you are using.

When I want a color to stay "true" on someone's lid, I'll mix a MAC Paint (primes, neutralizes lid color, and ameliorates creasing) with a base cream color (to boost the true color of what you are applying).

If I was doing it for you, I would use "Bare Canvas" and mix in a bit of Kryolan white cream color before applying the silver.

That's just my technique. I'm sure others will chime in with what works for them.

I may try that, and you are probably right...I'm really pale and tend to be a little on the blue side. lol

Okay, I just checked the brands: one eyeshadow is L'Oreal HiP concentrated shadow duo and the other is Max Factor Vivid Impact Eyeshadow Due.

A base will help. I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance, some like Urban Decay Primer Potion. It really does help with eyeshadow. Also, apply the silver with a damp (not wet) brush.

I have this Two Faced duo in "Ooh & Aah (black and silver, 7th from the bottom), and it's a true silver on me - though it's more of a pewter silver than a sterling silver.

I just bought the UB primer...I'll try it and see if that helps.

I discovered today that we have an Ulta in the next town over...dear Lord, I'm going to go broke!

I adored living close to Ulta when we were in Greensboro. We could walk to the mall amazingly and my teen daughter was always there. I didn't even know what Ulta was until then.. I had a nailpolish of that brand. I was in heaven when i went in.. I couldn't believe it.... yum

When applying your shadow, after putting a base, try dipping a sponge tip shadow applicator in cold water, then dipping it in the shadow and applying. Don't soak it, just dip it enough to get it wet.

If you put it on with the base, dipping the applicator in water before applying helps the shadow look more dramatic and it stays on better.

You may have oily eyelids so also try putting some translucent power on your lids before the shadow to help the color stay.

I think Azhia is the best expert here but maybe some Eye Kandy glitter would help too. .w.:

I love the HIP silver. It comes in a duo with a black eyeshadow. It's a very bright, true silver.

I think that's one of the ones I've used...I think I just have too much of a blue undertone in my skin.

MAC's Luna cream color base works well to keep eyeshadow colors stay true on my pale eyelids.

Hard Candy's "Techno" quartet has a fantastic silver in it. It stays on me all day without any primer.
