Trumpet Skirt Pattern
Can anyone suggest a good trumpet skirt pattern that's simple to follow and fits well? Does such a thing exist?

Re: Trumpet Skirt Pattern
I recommend simplicity 4401, you'll need to lower the waistband and make it a bit smaller -the sizing is very generous!
It's a nice pattern and very easy though.

Re: Trumpet Skirt Pattern
No, you need to cut the top of the skirt at the hipline. The pattern should have the hip marked on it - you can fold down the pattern and just cut it straight or if you want to do it more "nicely" you can replicate the curve that will be at the waistline, at the hip level.

Re: Trumpet Skirt Pattern
Look at both the size guidelines for body measurements and for the finished garment measurements on the back of the pattern envelope. For stretchy fabrics you want the garment measurement to be slightly less than your body measurements. Use that to guide which size to cut at.

Re: Trumpet Skirt Pattern
Okay, I replied to one of the earlier posts linked above. Deleted it at the original post and here is what I said. I think you could use 4401 for a dress by cutting skirt at the hip and leaving off the waistband. Then cut bodice longer and join at the hip. Decorate over the seamline. You could also add a zipper in back cause both pieces have center seam.

According to the pattern back, it starts at size 10 for 25" waist, 34.5" hip.
Madame X makes a mermaid skirt, but her sizing tends to run big. Adira Dance and Costume: The Marvelous Mermaid and Fabulous Fishtail Skirt, Pattern #9802.
I thought BD used to have one, but I can't find anything but their dress. Adira Dance and Costume: B.D. Pattern #3010 One-Shoulder Dress with Side Cutout and Mermaid Skirt.
