Spinoff from Wigs - UnbeWeaveable!
So spinoff from the Wigs thread, if you don't do wigs what about clip on/in extensions? I saw the thread I think AmberMoon posted (?) about how to make your own tracts with wefted hair & clip them in. My hair's pretty long and not really thin, but I'd like it to be thicker sometimes. So I got a packet of hair today from Sally & some clips to whip up a lil somethin tonight

What brands do you like? Just to play with & try I got a packet of the Yaki (no, not Yak) brand silky straight 18" ($7.49). They had another brand (forget the name) under electronic lock & key that's human hair, looked (and the swatches felt) very nice, and was $80. Think it may come with clips already attached, too, but unsure.Last edited by TexasRuya; 04-07-2009 at 05:30 PM.

Re: Spinoff from Wigs - UnbeWeaveable!
I made my own clip in extensions the other week based on AmberMoon's post and after watching a few youtube instructionals. I get tired of 3/4 falls and wanted to try something different.
I used a pack of human hair from Sally's and created two extensions to clip in (one above the other) - they match perfectly with my hair but I had to triple the weft to get the effect I wanted. So pinning the weft to my head is possible but I have to work on making sure it doesn't show.
While the already clipped extensions look cool and only cost a few dollars more, I didn't want to bother with attaching 10 - 14 pieces.
I plan on taking them to my hair stylist for my next cut and have her trim and layer them to match my hair perfectly.

I hope you'll post pictures of how this works. I'm very curious.
(And I LOVE this thread title.)

Re: Spinoff from Wigs - UnbeWeaveable!
I made two clip-ins last night & they work well. It added just a little extra something to my hair and my sees-it-all-catches-it-all husband couldn't tell until I told him exactly what was different.
However, while not strong smelling, the synthetic/plastic smell of the hair I got was yuck enough to me that I did not test drive the clip-ins to work today. One of those smells that you taste, but, I'm fairly sensitive when it comes to scents. I'm going to try rinsing them in cold water (& possibly mild shampoo) & see if that'll help. If it were something I'd wear often, I'd probably just spend the $$ for the human hair ones & not bother w/synthetic.
