seeking out bitchen burgundy eye shadow
i bought the MAC one, the one that is so dark it almost looks black and has sparklie but it's dull :(
am seeking something that is a wine burgundy, a dark shade but not almost black, something that has a dark red brick tone or purplish tone to it is fine
would also love to find a really deep red canyon color, earthy red not fire red, but not so coppery that its brown
i tried Urban Decay didnt see anything
any other suggestions? can be pigment or shadow

MAC Cranberry? It's a bright cool toned red, tending towards burgundy. (unless it's disc.?)

Re: seeking out bitchen burgundy eye shadow
for a drugstore fix: Black Radiance eyeshadow quartet, in "Forest Sand" is the most flattering burgundy I have found so far.
Although YMMV. (I haven't found a Mac burgundy I really like yet, but eyeshadows look differnet on each individual)

Re: seeking out bitchen burgundy eye shadow
am on the MAC site now, might have to stop by MACY'S tomorrow to see how they look in person, thanks guys
and might also have to stop by LONGS to see about this Forest Sand
wishing we had an ULTA store here!
i found a rosy burgundy once, don't remember the name of the makeup tho..let me see if i can find the old receipt..it was a pigment or mica style sprinkle powder messy thing but i loved the color so much, wore it on wedding day..had definite pink/rose tones to it
there was also a really cool one that was sorta burgundy but turned green when you moved around

Re: seeking out bitchen burgundy eye shadow
ok the MAC shadow i have is called VELVET ..really pretty in the case but when applied it almost looks like a dull black..wasnt impressed
the other makeup i mentioned is called Natural Color..i remember being very impressed with it..they have some really nice colors. I can't seem to find a website (yet) ..I actually bought a bunch of the colors at a kiosk in a mall in Honolulu (last time i was there the kiosk was gone but personally i loved the makeup and their powder concealer and brush on stuff was good too)
The 'burgundy' one i have is more rose with mauvey shimmer but i wear it as my burgundy shadow its REN 5
they also have an olive shimmer on there, it's sort of a gunmetal silver/green mix and it's gorgeous esp if you have green eyes

I use Ben-Nye's Black Plum daily, very pretty but on the purplish side (not really reddish). Fairly matte and cheaper than the other suggestions, tho...I use it as a contour for stage also.

I checked mine this morning when I was putting on my makeup, as I knew I had one. I have the MAC Cranberry as well :-)

Re: seeking out bitchen burgundy eye shadow
I am totally hooked on MicaBella shadows. I didn't see a dark burgundy on the website but I remember seeing it at a kiosk in the mall. Its hard to see the real pigment on the websites because the images don't show the true hue/reflectiveness/shimmer of the powders. Here's a color you might be interested in

Re: seeking out bitchen burgundy eye shadow
*listening attentively* Burgundy is GREAT with blue eyes.
Now, I'm not exactly sure what to blend it with so that I don't look like I have hardcore seasonal allergies or a swollen eye. Do you guys like to use it as a contour or use another color to soften the edges?
Interested to hear how others wear it.

Soften anything with taupe or a clean brush for additional blending.

Re: seeking out bitchen burgundy eye shadow
I think the color you got is called Beauty Marked, which is a velvet finish. It's absolutely beautiful in the pot, but it is hard to use. I think it's one of those colors that works best in the crease or on top of another color. I do recommend Sketch, Embark and Folie for burgundy type colors from MAC.

I have Beauty Marked as well and use it when I want a bit of shine to a smokey eye.
