Question Those little footie things that the BDSS wear

When I went to see the BDSS perform in Durham, many of the dancers were wearing ballet slipper thingies. They were not the typical nude or pink ones that I think of. They looked more like a slipper. You could barely seem them from the stage. I actually had to stare pretty hard to figure out Sonia was wear them. Anyone know what they are called and where to get them?

Is this another post in the "Duh" category?

Look under the Modern shoes category. There are FootUndees, Dance Paws, or Illusions. It might be one of them. I have the full body footundeez and I love them.

Here's a pic of Jillina wearing them. Could be regular ballet slippers, but I love how they match her legs. Must be custom or something:

    Maybe these:
I think the color I am looking for is European Pink. The regular pink and nude colors are too dark for my fair skin. I want to be able to get away with wearing ballet shoes when I dance in public, so I want to make them as discreet as possible.

I think they are the full sole foot undeez. I have them in nude and they are just about invisible. Also wear Capezio leather Juliettes in rose quartz which is close to actual flesh tone.

That does look like a ballet slipper. You might be able to find them in nude.

I have both foot undeez in the half and full varieties. They don't really work for me. Neither do dance paws.

I got these on Ebay -- they are like split sole ballet slippers and even have little sequins and beads added -- made by "Sansha" -- I'll get a close up for you in a minute ..... here's what they look like on (I'm wearing them -- in the black costume)

I buy Capezio Juliet split sole ballet slippers in Rose Quartz and they blend in fine with my skin, and I am extremely pale.

Here you go ..... if you like the ones I'm wearing in the pic, here's a close-up. They are not a true "pink" and not "nude", something in between, so they blend well with my skin tone .... and I remembered I got them here, from a Bhuzzer, not Ebay! Wish I could remember who the seller was .....

PS -- does anyone know how to clean/wash them? LOL!

Also, if you get the canvas ones, you can dye them. . .

meh. doesn't work too well. i tried it ^^ tried dyeing a pink pair black. the canvas came out black (though not a very deep black, rather very deep blue kinda), the glue holding the pads melted, the slippers shrinked somewhat in size, and the 'trim' that lines the canvas where it's cut become only a light greyish color.
    not all too great ^^

I wash mine in the delicate cycle, in a lingerie bag.

I love the criss-cross slipper, because you can sew the criss-cross straps to fit your feet!

Aren't those the cutest! How creative.

Do people like canvas or leather better?

    I have both.

The color of the canvas is lighter in my opinion.

I always prefer leather because it molds to my feet over time. Canvas has always been a "vegan/vegetarian" option in my world, not what I would choose otherwise, But that's me.

Me too, but I've did a quick read of some ballet boards and a number of dancers like how canvas fit he feet better.

you can try tea dying the canvas ones, depending on your coloring. I love those slippers with beading -- naiyahayal you've been holding out on us! ;)

re: ballet slippers, I like canvas for class, leather for my performance shoes--but only for ballet. My modern dance training & barefoot belly dance training prefer the full sole foot undeez. Lyrical sandals are another option. Bloch also makes an elastic slipper. These have the look & feel of a ballet slipper but are made of a snuggy fabric. They're called "pro elastic" by bloch.

I would about lay money Jillina is wearing bog standard ballet shoes there.

I wear leather Paul Wright ballet shoes for teaching and class, and am going to try the foot undie option for performance of some dances where I want a nude look. I really like ballet slippers though.

This is how you dye them so that they don't fall apart (we used to dye our toe shoes all the times)

1 - wipe the shoe down as much as possible so that any finishing product is off the canvus
2 - Stuff the shoe with paper.
3 - Fill a bottle which has a spounge on the end - like you use for moisening stamps - with dye.
4 - 'paint' the shoes with the dye.
    5 - allow to dry.

    Repeat as needed.

Oh... I was going to try these but ended up going with 'free form' by capezio. I like them so far, they have very little fabric but good support and are good for teaching though maybe not invisible enough for stage.
