Better option than safety pins?
So after looking at some pics taken of me dancing this weekend, I was embarrassed to see that the waistband of my skirt was peeking out above my belt.
I usually pin the front of the belt to the skirt, but are there better and easier options for keeping the skirt from peeking out? I've tried pinning in the back, but I never get it right.

Yes! I just worked with a couple of gals this past weekend who put velcro on their skirts and belts! Nothing moves!

Oooooh, that's not a bad idea. It would definitely lessen my chances of stabbing myself. lol A trip to Hobby Lobby may be in order.

Great idea. I hate having to put the pins off and then have to change into another costume. Such a pain as well.

Re: Better option than safety pins?
I had a belt with side cut-outs and the top of skirt or harem pants would tend to migrate up into the cut-outs and show. I put snaps inside the belt, with their corresponding halves on the skirt/pants waistband, to keep the waistband at the right level. I imagine the same thing would work for this problem.

PS - One thing about Velcro is that the rough side (the side with the plastic micro-hooks) can snag on delicate fabrics. I went with snaps because I wanted to wear a fine mesh belly cover and I figured if I used Velcro, sooner or later it would get against it and wreck it.

I read somewhere to put snaps on all your skirts and the corresponding side on all your belts. Just snap into place once your skirt and belt are on.

I tend to stitch my skirt to the inside (just a loose, temporary whipstitch).

Snaps! Also there are some wonderful safety pins that go on the OUTSIDE. The stationary side of the pin is wrapped in embroiderly floss to match the costume and then beaded fringe to match your bedlah is attached. When you pin the business end through the belt and to your skirt, it just looks like part of your bedlah!

I've used giant snaps, front, back and both sides. Velcro dots sound good, too.

Re: Better option than safety pins?
Hmmm, I'll get some snaps and some velcro dots and see which work best for what I have.

I put big snaps in the front and back of my Hoda Zaki belt (which really dips front and back) and on the coordinating skirt. I love it!

another vote for giant snaps. also, make sure your belt is tight enough and your skirt is shoved down far enough, to begin with.

I suggest super glue or body-painted bedleh.
Snaps never stay shut for me. NEVER. And velcro is a bit risky in terms of catch-ability. I like the idea of special stealth safety pins that match! They'd be much easier to handle.

Those giant snaps are amazing. I have used them to hold on about 10lbs of bustle and lace ruffles all down the back of a victorian gown. I used to find some called "whopper poppers" which were the best, but I have also used the giant Dritz ones.
