Thread: Do you love it or hate it?

So, I was browsing through the costumes at the bellydancestore the other day and came accross this one. I think it's very whimsical. Now, I hate snakes so I wouldn't ever wear it, but I can totally see someone raking the house with it. I guess I don't know the answer to my own question. Most of me hates it but then I don't know, there's something about it.....

I liked it more from a distance than close-up. I like the idea of snakes but I've never seen it carried out very well in costume.

No, I couldn't bear to wear that. The curl on the tail of the one round her shoulder gives me the creeps,even though I know it's not real!

Someone on Bhuz had an egyptian style costume with a snake on it. I think it might have been Thalia. She totally carried it off, but I know I couldn't.

I have to admit that I kinda like this one (and some how I never saw this one on there before!)

I think it depends on the dancer. Some could totally pull this off and look phenomenal and others not so much.

I don't like the colors of it at all and I am terrified of snakes. Definately not for me but on the right dancer I think it would be cool.

EEK! EEK! *runs away screaming* Ick, no. I know it's kitschy and ladies can pull it off but EEK!

That is exactly how I feel about it. I certainly wouldn't pay what they're asking for it, but it's kind of fun in a weird creepy crawly way.

I guess we're in the minority, B! ;-b~ I actually like it more b/c of the muti-colored effect of the AB crystals and pailletes & beading on the always-great neutral sparkly-gold base, than the snake accent/motif.

Love the colors, looks great far away when I squint my eyes and tilt my head. Not so lovely close up.

if i had the cash and the skills to carry it off it would be mine...i am a wee bit skeptical about the colors though...

I like the vintage feel of the coin fringe n'at, but I firmly dislike the fake snake, that is icky.

The costume is great from a distance and I think would definitely make an impression. I personally don't think I could get away with wearing it. At least we know that snake won't be injured by too many shimmies : )

I love it! I'd probably look terrible in it, but it's crazy and definitely takes a personality to pull it off. I actually would hate the color scheme if it wasn't for the snake, but it seems to work.

It's that fun crazy cheeziness we were discussing in the 7 veils thread.

I would almost like to see it with a different skirt (not sure what that would be, exactly). I like the one pictured there, but I dont know that I care for it with the crazy bedlah.

I hate it and I even like snakes. But, no. Not pretty.

I think it's kinda fun. If I had 10 costumes and needed something a little different, I could see buying it.

I don't mind the snake stuff, but I don't like the colours and the stripey fringe. I find it very busy.

I don't like it at all, and it's not only the snake motif - the bra belt is shiny gold with multi-color accents but doesn't match the sheer black skirt very well. And, at $495 it's waaaaay overpriced, IMO. Also, a snake motif could be interesting but I do not like the way the snake drapes so much off the costume.

Looking again, its listed under bra/belt, which makes me think that that skirt doesnt actually COME with the costume at all, which might be why it looks 'off' to some of us ;-)

I don't mind the snake elements; I actually loved Jillina's pink snake costume!

But I really dislike the crazy pattern, and the fringe that ends in a coin (which immediately reminds me of those cheapo BD costumes from India). The color and style of the skirt does not match the bedlah at all. If I were forced to wear it, I'd probably pair it with a cream trumpet skirt or something minimal to balance out the wackiness on top.
