Some people require a lot more of one vitamin than what the RDA is. If you read about how the RDA was set up, it was orignally developed to stave off most degenerative diseases like scurvy and malnutrition-not to achieve optimal levels for optimal health. Talk it over with your doctor and have your levels monitored, and go by how your symptoms change as well. You will reach a level that is optimal for you.

On a side note, bleeding gums can also be caused by stress, lightheadedness can be caused by low blood volume (i.e. not enough fluid intake or too much dietary salt intake), anemia, abnormal thyroid function, very low blood pressure, or a host of other problems that are borderline "normal" for most people but are abnormal for you.
Thanks for the info, Talia! I do resonate with a lot of what you said, especially the last paragraph. I have been checked for thyroid isssues, though none have been found, though I am being treated for Social anxiety. The doctors thought the thyroid might be an issue, but nothing abnormal has been found, though at one point I was having up to 6 panic attacks a day. Also, I have INTENSE cravings for salt, but since my blood pressure's so low, docs said it was ok to have as much as I want.

I think all-in-all, it's stress. I have been going through a life crisis and a host of changes the past couple of years, and maybe it's catching up with me. Plus, I'm no college freshman anymore, I need my sleep, fiber, etc! ;-)

Dig through your medical info, be your own detective/advocate and see if there is anything the doctor missed.

Most times, they are barely schooled in nutrition and don't really have the time to research borderline nutritional deficits.
