Thread: Making a skirt wider!!

I was wondering if any one could give me advise on making a skirt wider. I bought my dream bella costume, which perfectly fits on my waist. But I think it looks much better on the top of my hips (which is 6 inches larger). Does anyone have any ideas how I can increases it?

Just so you know, it came with some armlets in the same fabric and beading, which I have no intention of using.

Could you open the seams on the sides and add fabric insets?

can you send it back to bella and request that they alter it? If it's the perfect costume, it would be a shame to mess it up.

otherwise, I think alteration methods depend heavily on the style of the costume. If you have access to a camera, maybe uploading photos might help people give useful feedback.
