    How to apply i.d. minerals

My friend gave me some loose mineral powder from i.d. I have no idea how to use it. The brushes I have don't seem to work, plus I can barely get any product out of the holes. It seems like the way I am applying it, the layer is to light. I like a bit more coverage. Usually, mineral make-up seems heavier...so I guess I am not putting it on right?

    Help! Thanks.

Did you turn the pot over first with the cap on, so you could shake some out?

My instruction sheet says: swirl (your brush into the powder) tap (the excess off) and buff (which ends up being just the way it sounds, working it into your skin with a circular motion.)

My problem with it is that my skin is so damn dry, I have to really oil my face up first before I start buffing. The Kabuki brush mine came with is really soft to the fingertips, but all that buffing tended to make my face feel like it had...well...been buffed.

I use the Mineral Veil over lotion just for a nice finish on a regular day, and as a powder over my Cover Girl foundation for real makeuppy occasions. It's also nice for setting your lipstick.

    Hi Andalee

I am a huge supporter of Mineral makeup but also need a good amound of coverage. When your kit is new the brushes tend to be slick and not hold much product. Once you use it and "break it all in" coverage should improve.

Azhia gave a good tip a while back and this works well for blending: When you swirl you brush (with the minerals on it) onto your face, make sure to tap the brush upside down first to get the minerals down into the brush, then swirl clockwise, the counter clockwise when applying. Going in different directions assures even distribution.

I've got oily skin so Bare Minerals brand made me look like an android. (it's the bismuth they use) I now use Every day minerals and love it. It's less expensive and they have a great sample kit program. https://www.everydayminerals.com/

Also what helps me is to use the kabuki brush (or I have a flat ended powder brush for this) and sort of tap the product right into your pores ( I do this around the inner cheek area where my pores are larger then buff out. Mineral Veil underneath works also as a good primer.

Let me know how it works out.

Yes, you have to shake it up with the cap on so you have enough product. I use the brush that came with it, but I think any brush will do it (as long as it's big). Don't just lightly speckle it on your face, work it into your skin a little.
When I first started using it, I didn't like it for performing, because I felt that it didn't give enough coverage - I was sweating more, but with foundation and powder everything stayed more in place.

I even took a break from using it for daytime, but now that I bought a set again a couple of months ago, I use it for performance all the time. Some times I have multiple performances, and after a show, I can wash off my face, reapply the mineral make up and feel fresh, crisp and put together.
The key is to make sure you use enough, but also not too much, because then it doesn't look natural.

Yeah, there's definitely a learning curve with it. But it's great stuff.

It also helps to use the foundation primer. Mine stays all day with that, and even after perfoming. Plus I think you get more coverage with it.
