Swollen eyes
So this is not for me, but for my boyfriend. He's suffering from a bad case of seasonal allergies, and his eyes are very swollen and itchy. A coworker said it looks like he aged 10 years over night.
Any suggestions for some natural remedies that might help with the swelling? Eye drops help a bit, but any other tips would be much appreciated.

Re: Swollen eyes
Try rinsing the eyes with cool camomile tea to soothe them. Also, a cool compress to reduce the swelling.
He has my sympathies--I've been dealing with eye allergies for a couple of years now and it sucks!!

Re: Swollen eyes
Not natural but zyrtec is over the counter and is the best pill to alleviate itch.

Re: Swollen eyes
Chilling two teaspoons in the freezer for about 20 minutes, then applying them to closed eyelids helps the swelling a bit - and the cold feels very nice when they're swollen and itchy.

Re: Swollen eyes
My eye doctor once told me that if your eyes itch from allergies, you should wash your eyelashes -- splash some lukewarm water on the eye area and give the lashes a gentle rub. Sounds silly, but it helps to remove the pollen and dust that accumulate on them. Best if you make a habit of doing it every day during allergy season.

Re: Swollen eyes
Preparation H (or something similar) dabbed under the eyes.
Amazing results!

Re: Swollen eyes
Take two plain old Lipton tea bags, soak them briefly in warm water, then put them on your closed eyes for about 10 minutes.

Re: Swollen eyes
I second the tea bag suggestion.
And, if all else fails, my family swears by Benadryl for swelling allergies.
