    *@#%!! sunburn & photoshoot

so while enjoying a glorious nap in the park, my shady spot turned sunny....and my porcelain white skin turned lobster red! I was wearing a thick strapped dress with a somewhat square neckline, so now I have a square on my neck and red shoulders/arms.....and an outdoor photoshoot coming up on Sunday! ,m::..cr.:

I read a post from last year giving advice for covering a sunburn for a performance, and that had some good ideas, but I'm worried certain fixes might not show up nicely on film. Also, I'll need more sun protection too....currently, I'm aloeing the burned part and using gradual tanner lotion on the white bits.

Any suggestions? This is for my big website, business cards, business launch shoot!!

Oh that sucks! Sunburns hurt! One thing that is supposed to help the pain and pull out some of the redness is a vinegar bath. You'll smell funny, but it's always worked for me. You might consider getting a good professional spray tan. I've heard that really good ones can really even you out. Once a lot of the redness and pain go away, use a creamy aloe lotion to help minimize any peeling.

Other than that...I'm not sure what to suggest!

One of the dancers at my recital yesterday covered a tank-top sunburn with Dermablend. It didn't show at all -- I was amazed!

I've never heard of that one. How much water to how much vinegar? And what temp for the water?

I'll have to check out the beauty supply store for Dermablend too.

I usually put about a cup or two into the bath...just kind of depends on how bad the burn is (with my pale, freckled skin, my burns tend to be bad.) For the temp, lukewarm works the best. Not so cold that you are shivering, but not so hot that it irritates the burned areas.

This article has some other remedies: Sunburn Remedies - Health 911 I haven't tried most of these, so I don't know how well they work.

You could also try those airbrush leg things from Sally Hansen for a DIY solution. Oh and I love Jason's Witch Vera gel for sunburn. I think it makes it go away faster.

ETA: Photoshop is your friend. Hopefully your tog will be able to work with you on your lines/coloring post-production.

Here's some advice from an ex-lifeguard:
Take warm (almost hot) showers to open your pores so the heat can escape. While cold showers feel good they close your pores and you will be redder after showering. Take a few aleve or ibuprofen the day of the photo shoot, (these reduce redness and swelling of the skin.) Don't wash with regular soap, instead go get some Aveno oatmeal wash, it will moisturize your skin and prevent further irritation. I would also take a tepid bath in Aveno colloidal oatmeal soak, it will ease the pain and keep your skin moist. Don't moisturize with cocoa butter or vaseline, opt for lighter moisturizers that allow skin to breathe, petroleum based moisturizers often times trap heat in the skin and make the burn feel worse.

This might be a dumb question... couldn't the sunburn just be altered thru photoshop & airbrush by the photographer?

Also Dermablend is available @ Macy's.

we could probably photoshop still images, but for anything with moving hair, fringe, etc it may be a pain

tonight, I make a CVS run for my beat-the-burn campaign! Looks like I've been doing a few things anyway (the warm showers and Advil) by instinct, but we'll see how vinegar and all the other ideas work!
