Thread: Costume Collection, to keep or not to keep

Hi Dancers!


I have a huge costume collection, but after having a baby my hips are wider, and my boobs are bigger LOL I'm not sure if those will go away with weight loss. (I'm about 10 pounds heavier than before the baby)
I was able to adjust some of my costumes by just moving some hooks, but some of them need mayor altering.
I'm not sure if I should have them fixed or just sell them and buy new ones, It's such a pain, I really like them, and some of them I just used 2 or 3 times what would you do?

If you love 'em, keep 'em. Your body will probably go back to its old shape with time. If you don't have strong emotional attachments to them, then I say unless you're a hard size to shop for sell them! You can always buy new ones, and if you need costumes for upcoming performances it's best to have things that fit well *now* as opposed to years from now.

I'm still 5-10lbs above what I was pre-baby (2.5 years later....) and I've sold all but one of my ill-fitting pre-baby costumes. That last one is like my pair of skinny jeans...someday it WILL fit again. ;-)

When did you have the baby? My body got back to it's old shape about 2 years after. Well a similar shape. If it wa srecent, you might want to wait a bit.

Well, my baby girl will be 2 in 1 month :S I guess she is not a baby anymore!
I do know that back then I had no hips! and now I still have some extra pounds, but I'm not sure if I will get any smaller in the hip area, what do you think?

I have a costume like that too, my favorite :)
I think I'm going to have a hard time selling them but like you say it's better to have something that fits now!

If it's been 2 years, I'd trade them in for ones that fit now. If you're a standardish size, there are plenty of lovely costumes on the swap meet.

Thats what I would do as well. If you are not attached to the costumes you have, sell them to fund for ones that do fit and you can adjust easily in case your weight does change again:)

Yay! We all got a bunch of 2-3 year olds!
If you're looking for an excuse to sell some costumes you don't wear much and get new ones you like better, this seems like the ideal opportunity! If you love a costume and it is just a weeny bit small, I'd wait 6 more months.

I'm happy to find other dancers that have babies like me :):):)
I want to go back to work again and you guys inspire me very much.
