Got bra cups - what now?
I got a pair of really nice bra cups, with the idea of making a dance bra out of them. They are light and soft, yet really nicely sturdy - when pulled along the top edge, there is no stretch (which I tried in the small store, under the weary eyes of the owner). And, they didn't cost a fortune.
Now, here I am, feeling clueless - I hold in my hands what to me seems like a fabulous starting point, and I don't know what to do next - I know that I have to attach them to each other and then attach stuff to them, but questions over questions: How do I angle the cups? How do I decide how much, if any, space to leave between them? How do I decide at what angle to attach the side pieces? There is a huge space of choices - and how in the world do I pick parameters that are flattering on my body, other than trial and error? HELP!!!!

Do you have a costume bra that fits well to use as a guide for distance and placement?

Re: Got bra cups - what now?
Being somebody who likes to work from precedents, I thought about that: I have a few costume bras that are OK, but none is really perfect. I know I want a more full-coverage design, rather than a demi, and something that does not emphasize my boobies' tendency to arrange themselves in a high-cleavage way (they are obscene little buggers!).
I have the how to cover a bra book by Davine Brown, so for that part at least, I have the manual, which is one comfort.

Re: Got bra cups - what now?
this really helped me with my first bra construction but it's more designed for working with a full bra, but maybe it could help?

Re: Got bra cups - what now?
short description:
hold the cups tilted like a Push Up bra and saw a not stretchy ribbon in the middle, also use this kind of ribbon for straps, I like halter style better for me.
I am C cup so it lifts and pushes my girls better
then cover the cups, glue Bakram (sp?) to make the cup stiffer, insert your padding if you need and line it with the same lining as cover material or cotton or i have some bras that lined with felt, cover the straps, and
put your beads/accessories before put the hooks.
