Thread: Preparation H to Firm Belly?

A co-worker just told me that his military buddy uses Preparation H to shrink his waist for his fitness measurement. This sounds crazy to me, but have any belly dancers used this to firm their bellies prior to a performance? Too funny!..l;,

Haven't heard of it on the belly, but I suspect there are many strange uses people put Preparation H to. I've heard of applying it under the eyes to get rid of puffiness and bags under the eye.

My bodybuilder friend used it all over before going onstage to compete. From what I saw, I don't think the smell is worth the results.

I find that I have a better performance if my belly isn't firm. I'm assuming you mean tight skin not muscle tone. Think about it like this, when you are bloated your skin feels tighter, this tightness tends to hinder movement and just feels yucky over all. Not to mention Prep H stinks to high heaven, and anyone familiar with the smell may assume your suffering roid rage (to be polite!)

Good point Nasila! It might look greasy and smell bad. Best to try it at home first.

You put it wherever you want to reduce swelling. If you have puffy bags under your eyes, put it there. If you have swelling in the waist area, put it there.

But I agree - it's got to smell awful! Surprisingly the military commander didn't "smell" that!

My sister tried that - she says it burns like a M.F. under the eyes. I think it's an old wives tale.

I've used Anusol under my eyes and it does reduce dark circles, but it's not something I suffer from a lot. It smelled ok. What does PH smell of...? Though why these products are not given better names is beyond me... I mean.... ANUSOL? Why not just go the whole hog's arse and call it Anal Varicose Vein Reduction Cream.

Warning... the US version of Preparation H no longer has the active ingredient that used to work to shrink under-eye bags.

Too bad, it's way cheaper than most of the muck that's sold in high-end cosmetics. I learned about it in the drag queen circles (anyone see Sandra Bullock in that FBI movie with Michael Caine? It was referenced LOL)

The Prep H or Anusol trick under the eyes is an old showbiz or "party goer" trick and it works pretty well. The gels dont generally smell in smaller amounts, but when you squeeze tubes on tubes out and rub your whole body in with just about anything - the smell will intensify. Bodybuilders also wear aweful smelling body "paint" tans as well to bring out definition. They are used to the smell of sweat and body - so I dont think 50 tubes of Prep H would make them react. It'd be like an airfreshner compared to what they are used to, right?

I read somewhere that some of the Miss America contestants smear it all over their thighs, wrap with kitchen plastic wrap, and wear that to bed.

He did place, in the all-natural (read: no steroids) category. I don't think it was the Prep-H though.

Preparation H has fish oil in it. That's where the icky smell comes from.

Right I don't care waht it smells like if it can tighten up the loose-baby-belly-skin on my belly then I'm all for it. Maybe the Anusol doesn't ming so much.

I once worked with a guy from Canada who didn't have legal entry (pardon the pun!) to the UK, so couldn't get NHS medical treatment and couldn't afford to go private. He had a bunch of grapes up his bum and was suffering "roid rage" quite severely.

So one evening (or so he told me, but then I am very gullible), he got in the bath, drank half a bottle of whisky, and then grabbed a fistful of grapes and ripped them off!!!! Aaaargh! Apparently it was very bloody but he obviously lived to tell the tale.

I don't know about Prep H but lots of beauty spas offer body wrap treatments that supposedly tighten the skin/draw out retained water. Supposedly there is a measurable difference in your body size, though you regain the inches once you rehydrate, eventually, but these treatments are supposed to be genuinely good for the look of your skin in terms of tone, cellulite reduction etc.

Expensive though.

I think I'll just stay soft, jiggly and wear a body stocking.

So it's Preparation H to reduce dark circles and puffiness under the eyes, Milk of Magnesia against oily skin and acne, and Monistat skin cream as a foundation primer.
