    Hair for a Rainy Day??

Okay, for some reason we're having monsoons here in tennessee and I'm wondering if anyone has a nice hair suggestion that will withstand some seriously rainy weather for performance. I am tired of wearing my pony falls to the restaurant, and tonight i really don't want to wear ANY fake hair...the 3/4 takes forever to put on, plus, when it's wet it feels like a dead animal and weighs a ton.

My hair is a few inches past my shoulders, & layered, and straight....and in the humidity, it is humiliatingly flat. Help?? Suggestions?? What are some good cabaret specific hair ornaments besides the headbands that come with costumes?

Big clip-on flowers, colour-coordinated with your costume? A fascinator?

I almost invariably wear a hairpiece for dancing, my hair is too short and mundane for performing in. I couldn't imagine going out & performing with wet hair, so if it's rainy (or after a workshop where I'll have ended up as sweaty Betty), I take my hairdryer for a quick five minute dry-off.

ETA- I just read the last four words of your post a different way now, and no, flowers & fascinators don't come as part of your costume. You used to be able to get those "ghawazi crown" style head pieces, that were wired and stood up, but they didn't often come as part of the costume set. They don't seem to be around so much these days.

I've got some seriously odd hair.

If I straighten it on a humid day, it goes flat. If I leave it as is, it just gets nasty. So I just curl it really big with my rollers and let the humidity do its thing - when it poofs out, it ends up looking kinda like early 90's supermodel hair! But you've gotta go the whole nine yards and do a smoky eye and a glamour nude lip

Also, I was checking out some tutorials on YouTube last night on how to volumize straight hair. There are a few ways to do it with a flat iron. If you've got a couple minutes, you might want to check out some of the tutorials.

Smooth the hair to your head with an extreme side part, side ponytail (full and voluminous through curling, back combing and lots of spray, embellish the "swept" side w/ decorated clips, flowers, or wrap the headband around the ponytail.

I love flowers in my pulled-back hair, flamenco dancer style. It sounds cheesy, and I feel bad for doing it (it sounds so wrong!), but no matter how I much I cringe, it looks good.

I get silk flowers at Michaels etc., cut off the stem, and use my trusty E6000 to glue a hair clip to the back of the flower. I have also used big silky flowers from those fashion stores in the mall and converted them the same way.
