Common Dance Injuries

Thanks for sharing. This is a bit technical for those of us without medical degrees but it is still helpful information.

I found it interesting since I just spent last week being poked, proded, and xrayed for hip problems. Turned out everything is fine - the chiropractor said my xrays are "textbook perfect" - which is amazing given my history of back problems. Seems the problem is just muscular so he gave me some stretching exercises to do on days I'm not dancing. Hopefully that will start to help ease the pain I've been having.

I went through physical therapy at the Harkness Center. It's a wonderful place. Such a relief to have finally been told that "quitting dancing" is not the only solution to my problem.

I've had a couple of rounds of treatment there. It was as helpful as physical therapy can be, which is to say, sometimes very. The one thing that they really couldn't fix 100% was my bizarre hip/psoas issue a few years ago, though they were able to help me understand it. I had to get rolfed for it to go away completely.

Totally recommend this place.
