This is sort of a spin from another thread about "breasts"
Sorry, if this was brought up before, but I did a search and didn't find anything.
I was under the impression that belly dance costume retailers will make a costume to fit you size.
As it impossible for many of us to find a vendor that sells the appropriate breast and hip ratio costumes.
My thing is when I find a bra that will fit, the hip is too small for me. I am constantly, making costumes for myself, and with my new baby I might not have the time to do this.
I am wondering does anyone know of any vendors that do this? Otherwise, maybe there are vendors that will sell the top in one size and the bottom in another? Like they do with swimsuits.

Re: Does anyone sell custom made costumes?
Are you totally caberet style? I have a friend/student who has an Ebay store (that she's trying to ditch due to fees).
She does amazing tribal to tribaret style costumes custom from the size to the bling she puts on them!Last edited by Najida; 05-13-2009 at 12:14 PM. Reason: typo

Re: Does anyone sell custom made costumes?
Oh, Invokethegoddess has some really beautiful costumes. She has put some up here on Bhuz. If you search for her you will find them. If I remember correctly, she specailizes in larger size bras and belts.

Thanks ladies... It really doesn't matter what style, but I do Oriental. My teacher is from Lebanon, if that matters.
Great to know that Bhuzers do it, I didn't even think of that.
I know I purchased some great skirts from Calico Garden, which fit wonderfully! I love them!

Re: Does anyone sell custom made costumes?
Here is a link to costumes she has made in the past. I know that Tanya LV has purchased from her and so has someone else here on Bhuz, maybe Asra?(sp?)

Wow at Invoke the Goddess, she has some great designs. I love Pharoah's Desire!

Re: Does anyone sell custom made costumes?
In addition to Eshta and Invoke the Goddess and others, nearly all of the Egyptian and Turkish designers do custom orders. Any costume you see on Dahlal.com can usually be custom ordered in your size, and other retailers who work with the major designers take custom orders as well. There's usually no extra charge for custom work, and you generally put down a 25% deposit and pay the balance when the costume comes in. You can specify color and design changes as well.
The downside: It's common for custom orders to take 4-6 months. Occasionally a costume won't appear for up to a year after your order... some never happen. Occasionally the colors/size/etc. are just plain NOT what you asked for at all. When those things happen, if you've ordered through a reputable retailer they'll usually give you a refund or exchange credit.
Also, last time I looked Belly Dance Store.com: na had an extensive selection of what she called 'plus size' costumes, with bras that fit DD, DDD, E cups and up.
No one I know of sells costumes as separates (too many costumes are one-of-a-kind for that model to work, I think). Usually it's best to buy a bra that fits and have the skirt tailored.

Arub Dahlal in Atlanta (patti) also makes them, but I don't have her website on me at the moment. She made the costumes for my girls in the youtube posted in the instructor section.

Bdaddiction-Aren't you in the Massachusetts area? If so, you can go to Shadia in Dedham for custom work. She does beautiful work and she is a short drive for fittings.

Belly Dance Costume Boutique - At DancingRahana.com
Anyone tried Dancing Rahana? I seen she was one of the vendor links on the right side of the screen.

Re: Does anyone sell custom made costumes?
I bought a T-shirt from her and the customer service was excellent and the shipping fast. I don't know about custom orders but I say go for it if you like something on her site!

Re: Does anyone sell custom made costumes?
I'm also a non-standard size. I ordered a Great Loop from bellydancestore.com which is supposed to come in about two weeks. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. They also have a pretty wide size selection, you might want to email them with your measurements and see if they have something in stock.

Re: Does anyone sell custom made costumes?
I have only used her once and it took 6 months to get the costume so I may be the exception but I feel that was way too long and it was one of those coin bra/belts sets made on that cheapy silver or gold shiny fabric. Others I know have ordered from her and got their stuff quickly (but theirs were in stock items). I personally wont use her again but I don't want to ruin it for anyone else in case my experience was a fluke.
