    ISO: Cute Pants costumes

    Hi

The other day i felt like something different and wore my Eman Modern Saiidi pants costume (thanks caroline!! http://www.bhuz.com/forum/bellydance...0-bargain.html ) without the jacket thing, as an oriental costume. It was great, it felt so freeing having my legs free without having to worry about flashing anything. I'd love to find another pants costume, but the only ones I can find online are kind of, well, not my thing. They are sort of glorified flared leggings in cheap swimsuit lycra with crinkly elasticated waist bands and camel toe inducing construction. The Modern Saiidi doens't do that as the trousers are looser at the crotch but this looks ok because of the hot pants. I guess I'm looking for the pants eqivalent of Eman/Sahar type draping and styling . . .

Being a short ass of the pear shaped variety I think flares are more flattering for me than a straight leg.

Anyway, looking for inspiration for some unusual and elegant pants costumes. . . . anyone got any pics/links?

    Zaf

I saw a red pants costume on the swap pages a while back. You could probably search to find it.

Yeah, I've seen those on the bellydancestore but they are the type I was saying are a bit hmmm

Having said that, there are a few ones that are new, of all the ones on that site the only one I would consider is the red Raqia Hassan:

    Belly Dance Store.com: gallery

Except they are about a billion miles too long for me

The whole sexay turkish lattice work

    Belly Dance Store.com: gallery

    is not me

and this type just look a bit cheap - see the crinkylywaistband and the camel toe just waiting to happen?

    Belly Dance Store.com: gallery

    Anyone else?

It gives me hope seeing that Raqia one, maybe there are others out there from a Raqia/Eman type of designer.

They may be a bit kitsch, but I still like these two from the Oriental Moon Atelier:

I also like this Mamdouh on bellydancestore:
    "Mamdouh"
    and this Raqia:
"Raqia Hassan" - ETA, you've already mentioned the Raqia while I was posting.

Oooh, had forgottern about oriental moon. Those 2 aren't exactly what i want, but are much closer in styling . .

I didn't have anything solid in mind except nice drapey-ness and modern sleek lines.

Mandy Teasdale makes wonderful ones. I'll post a photo of Tracey in hers but if you got the Mosaic mag this time there is a lovely portrait of Candi in hers,

No I am not coming to Raqs B, I just don't have any interest whatsoever in the BDSS.

I guess I might have to wait until Congress, there's no urgent need other than my own sparkle lust!!

Fortunately Raqs B is not just about BDSS - it's an opportunity to meet up with other dancers.,there is a great Friday night show and I for one are going for the undoubted pleasure of once more being taught by Amel Tafsout.

I also will watch the BDSS show even if they aren't my cup of tea, they are hard working professionals who have raised the profile of the dance and did it very little harm so I am not quite so dismissive of them.
Of course I do have to suffer a trip to Blackpool.

I woud dearly have loved to come to Congress but being a non-driver and there being no hotel rooms available on the site, I am disbarred from seeing Fifi. Those of you who manage to get suitable accomodation are very lucky. Just thank your very lucky stars it was not back at Butlins (at least Blackpool is an improvement on that..just!)

I didn't get an on site hotel for the congress, I was going to drive from home (1 hour each way), but now booked cheapo travel lodge about 10 min drive away.

I don't think I can be criticised for not supporting dance festivals, or never going to the north. I go to JoY, I went to both Farha shows and the Farha festival in Newcastle , I am going to the Midlands thing etc. Raqs B started in the years I had to scale back because of my PhD and I've simply never felt like I missed much. Having lived in Edinburgh for 5 years, I am used to the feeling of everything being 'down south' so don't write me off as some lazy londoner!!

I have seen the BDSS twice and even made the journey from Edinburgh to London the first time round.

Not criticising just giving my point of view and who said you didn't wanna go north!!!! I was just saying why I was going and why I can't go to "Congress" because I am too stupid and poor to own a car, I can't be stuck miles away from an event.
If it was just the BDSS show, I wouldn't be going as I have seen them twice. I wanted to make plain it is a good event and has a lot more to it than just the show. Also there are lots of other teachers. I have got to the stage in life where I could not cope with a super fit Californian instructers.
I do wish I had the money also to come down south more often and to get to Egypt more often but hey ho, I'm at the other end of the scale to you- the pensioner. Some would say I am wasting my time even trying to imporve my dancing!..g.:

Last I heard she makes for individual people but insists on a free hand.
    Mandy never repeats a design.
