how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
...other than safety pinning it to the skirt?
i have issues with my costume. and i don't know if it's the costume or it's me doing it wrong.
i wear my belts pretty low. but a lot of you all do so too and i don't think you girls have issues like this... maybe it's the fact that the belt is made of pretty stiff material, so doesn't fold, but when i kneel/ bring my leg(s) up, or anything like that where i bend over at hip level, my belt scoots straight up. i guess it's because it's placed over the 'fold' between leg and torso (what is that place called??), but placing it higher doesn't work on me and lower looks indecent. i've tried pinning it to my skirt (just pulls the skirt up/looks wonky afterwards), tried tightening it (muffintop + pain lol), tried a bunch of things...
is there something i'm missing?
is it possible that it's because it's relatively stiff that it's doing this? the one time i saw a bella bra/belt set, the belt seemed really flexible, so maybe that's where the issue is? it's not a problem i have with my coin belt, but that's very flexible as well..

How tight is the belt? Do you have muffin top? the tighter the belt, the less chance it will have of moving. At all.
You might want to try it.

i've tried as tight as possible, so tight it starts cutting into me lol ^^ i'm not sure that's a solution...

Re: how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
sometimes too tight can make it ride up too. gotta find the perfect balance of tightness and placement. (that sounds bad...but you know what i mean ;)
but its very possible the stiffness makes it ride up with certain movements cause it might not move with your body.
is its straight around or have "body contour"? that can be an issue too.
what about the width of the front piece? if its very wide, a hip flexion movement can push it up
if its a 2 piece belt, try angling the hooks.

Re: how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
it's a V-shaped belt, which i don't think is helping.
i've tried changing the position of the 2 belt pieces, they 'clip' together at an angle at the sides (otherwise the back one isn't flat against my body), is that what you mean by "angling the hooks"?
meh. guess i'll play around with it some more and see. i don't wanna sell Yet Another costume i can get to work on me.
are all costumes such a PitA to get to fit or is it just me being wonky? i don't see all of you complaining about it being so hard to get a costume that technically is your size, to fit properly...

instead of pins i use, http://www.grootmoedersknoopendoos.nl/b_3934.jpg
i dont know the english name for it. you can buy it in "veritas", i put one end on the belt and one on the skirt and pinch them together.

Re: how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
yes, i think you are angling the pieces, but hard to tell without pics.
yes, most costumes are a pita to alter perfectly but its worth it. it can take hours to get a bra/belt set to fit just right.
i have a hunch that your v shape belt may be wide for your frame and battling your hip flexors. just a guess

Re: how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
tried that, i just end up with the worst wedgies ever! ^^
the only thing that more or less worked was wearing low rise jeans underneath and pinning belt+skirt to that. but that's not a solution....
sabrina, i also think it's a bit big for me.... there's quite a bit of overlap with the 2 belt pieces on either side of the hips... but was hoping there might be another solution. i don't wanna have to give up yet another costume because it's too big :(

Re: how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
on the front and back of my belts, i have "pin bars"
a 3" piece/ribbon, of tuff fabric.
i pin my skirt bands through that to my g string...aint going no where.i might add, that there is no elastic on my costumes.

Re: how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
I don't know if you have the same problem, but I finally figured out how to fix one of my belts that kept riding up:
I have much wider hips than waist, so I never have a problem with thing falling down, only going up & they always gap at the top in the back. I had my belt angled together & as tight as it would go, but it would eventually slide it's way up. To fix, I loosened the belt so that it fit comfortably around my hips (keeping the angle of the front & back pieces). It's loose enough that the weight of the belt can keep it down & if I jump up & down, it shifts a little, but settles back down. The gapping was a little worse now, so I added elastic along the top of the back piece to cinch it in. Now it stays where I want it & pins keep it from shifting at all.

Re: how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
Anisa -- yep, that's totally me! i went through the same tries lol. except the 'looser' doesn't work on me. at least not on this set, because once it's up and starts shifting, it refuses to come back down without manual help (gets caught at the top of the skirt's elastic generally, meh!) unless it's Really loose, but then it's too loose for my hips and eventually ends up halfway to my knees.
ahhh, problems, problems!

Re: how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
Hmmm. I wonder if maybe darting the belt to fit your shape perfectly would help. Not sure how snugly it fits, but you could dart the top & bottom to cup the booty (And you'd probably still need to pin either way.) It's drastic, but if nothing else works....

Re: how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
haha. "drastic" + "sewing" + "me" = bad, baaaaaad idea ^^
anyhoo cupping the booty won't work, it's a turkish V-shaped belt.. but thanks anyhoo ;)
guess i'll try everything here and if nothing works i'll just sell it.... but not gonna buy another methinks :( my mom said she'd try to help me to make a good base. after that, decorating i can do, and have tons of ideas, i just can't make a base on my own..

Re: how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
i also do this in combination with sewn in boyshorts (and then i wear that whole contraption OVER my underwear)
anyway, for me this stays put better than pins. i've got two or three buttons in front, one on each side, and one or two in the back, depending on the kind of belt

Have you though of weighting your belt? I have a badonkadonk and had the belt shimmying up problem until I started making my belts really heavy. Total fringe monsters, but they stay put now.

Velcro! I have costume/belt where I used velcro along inside areas of the belt and along the top of the skirt. Not around the whole thing, just on each side and then a piece or two in front and in back.

Re: how do you get your belt to NOT ride up?
Attach two lengths of elastic to the belt. One end of each length pinned to side front and the other to side back. You step into the elastic loops. They come around under your booty and crotch. The skirt then gets placed between the belt and the elastic loops. Not saying it's comfortable.
