Thread: Amira Mor Mini-Wings

Amira Mor sells these mini-wings that strap to your arms instead of around your neck. I'm thinking they might be a cute solution for small spaces, and might look more proportional with my petite figure.

Can anyone speak to the quality? Are they relatively easy to maneuver? What do you think?

They "look" good. I'm making a pair from regular wings because the wings out on the market are just too short for me.

I know Nimeera, who runs Cleo's Closet, sells smaller wings and she herself has used them in a small venue. She's super sweet if you want to get in touch with her about them. (I think hers are attached at the neck, though.)

I had to use Amira's little wings all the time when I was in her company. They are the same quality as any standard large lame (that's la-may, not lame as in uncool :-) wings. They slip onto your arm with elastic bands, and they are easy to manage once on.

Cool! Daniela, I'll remember you whenever I consider ordering anything from Amira mor. You must have been quite the spokesperson for all her fun wings and chiffon skirts!

If you ever see the end of one of Amira's videos, she has a "fashion show" of things she sells....(actually I think you can find it on youtube). Unfortunately, I am one of the "models" for said fashion show. She paid us in hipscarf to film that thing - one hipscarf in exchange for a lifetime of embarrasment. ,m::

Ohhhh, goodness. It would have to be a magic hip scarf that makes me shimmy like Randa, in order for me to accept that type of punishment

But hopefully you had a great time appearing in a popular mass-produced video! I mean, how many of us can say we've done that?

omg, Yes they are!!! and they would be absolutely perfect for something i had in mind, that i couldn't get to work with veils or full wings.
onto the wishlist!

They come in a couple of fun metallic colors, too! If I get them, I'll let you know how they work!

Okay I've danced with these and I must say they are NOT worth the price she's charging for them. You will be better off going to a rakkasah event and buying wings in person and converting them. In fact during spring caravan many vendors were selling smaller wings for 60 bucks and they were of a much higher quality then the mini wings Amira carries.

Tanya, do you happen to know of any of the vendors' names? No way I'd pay full price if I can get 'em that much cheaper.

I have the mini wings from Amira mor in silver lame set about 8 years ago.. I like them in smaller venues and low ceilings. But I think you can get them cheaper elsewhere. I did buy rods from Ayshe last year(very inexpensive)at Raks East to replace the wooden ones she uses. Big difference the rods make the wings flow better if that makes sense.

Thankfully I am only in it once - I start at around 55 seconds. We shot this after filming Bellydance Your Way to Ecstasy (her veil video). It was in a freezing cold warehouse in the Bronx, and by this time it was about 2:00am.

Hmm...I like my hair color in this video....;-)

I'm not sure of the vendor names, but no one at Spring Caravan was selling wings for over 70 bucks. I think it may be a special festival price, but I would say shop around first. For the price of the mini wings you may be able to get someone to make you smaller wings that are much higher quality.

Aren't the rods just plain 'ol rods you can buy at walmart? Their clear plastic, right? That's where I get mine and they work great for flutters.

my first dance instructor used them and i really liked them when she let me play around with them once..

we were impressed with the quality but we bought them years ago so no telling if they use the same manufacturer or supplier but at least at the time we were impressed

i loved them, if you are careful they can dangle from your arms and i thought they were a lot easier to use in small restaurant spaces since you didnt have that span of fabric across your back and shoulders to worry about
