Relining a costume and bra questions

How do you re-line a costume? Should a professional do it? What materials would I need to buy? This is for an old Eman costume that I would like to refurburish so to speak. It is a classic two piece style with the belt attached. Also, Is there a way to make my bra sturdy? In between the cups feels not as sturdy as it should just as any regular bra would after wearing so long. Is there anything I can do about that? One more question, I would like to replace a stone that came loose. Do I use superglue? Any help or suggestions appreciate.

Does it still have the original lining? If so, you can use this as your pattern for the new lining. If you have basic hand-sewing skills, you can do this yourself. I usually buy an all-cotton woven fabric in a coordinating color. Some people like to use knit or t-shirt fabric (even an old t-shirt).

You can add buckram, a layer or two of canvas or denim, or even add boning to the area between the cups. For this I recommend using really strong thread such as button thread and have a needle-nose pliers handy for pulling the needle through the thick fabric.

One more question, I would like to replace a stone that came loose. Do I use superglue?

There are some special glues such as E6000 (available many places, even Wal-Mart back with the crafts) that are recommended for gluing stones. E6000 Crystal Adhesive Glue

Buckram is tightly woven, stifened fabric that is used for book covers, hat bases, etc. And belly dance costumes. You can get it at Joanns but you usually have to ask for it.

For the area between cups you can add gros grain ribbon. I line my costumes with the material from old tee shirts. They are relatively cheap, easy to come by in a multitude of colours, and the fabric will mold to the shape of the cup.
