upper hip skirt alteration question
so i just got a really gorgeous sim from anya and the upper hip is about 2 inches too big. the only problem is that the skirt zips up from the side and there is no elastic in the waistband. so i'm not sure how i would adjust it to fit. would i do the elastic/casing thing? or is there another way that i'm not aware of? thanks!

Re: upper hip skirt alteration question
Yup, install some elastic with a thread casing and it should come in a couple of inches without any trouble.

Re: upper hip skirt alteration question
hey girl - take 1.5 inch wide elastic and case it with thread.
i usually make it a bit smaller then i need it so it stays snug.
eta: if you put the elastic all the way around it won't look bunchy - if you only put it in the back it will look bunchy.
if you can sew, you can also remove some of the beading and take it in. more labor intensive but doable.Last edited by anyadance; 05-21-2009 at 12:23 PM.

Elastic will give you a bunched up effect, which you may not want. If you're looking for a smooth fit, you may need to put in a couple of darts. Darts are typically put in the back of a skirt, about halfway between the spine and the outside of the hip.

Is the skirt heavily beaded at the hipline?

That makes your project more complicated, as you would have to remove the beadwork in the area where you wanted to place the darts. Try the elastic method first, BUT be aware that the weight of the beadwork at the hips may pull the skirt down when you start dancing. Overtighten, and make sure to practice HARD in it before performing - WITH the underwear you plan to wear.
