why do they always put their hands on their bellies?

nevermind, Samira answered that in a different thread. I wish they didn't do that.

Never notice about the hands, but the platform-clear-plastic-stripper-shoes, I can do without (but that is just the "Stacey London" in me reacting)

It's the wigs the girls wear that I wonder about. Maybe they're just trying to have a little fun in their photoshoots :-)

Kitty is 5'2". I'm 5'5". Most costumes are waaaaaayyy too long on us- and those are the shoes that happen to be there. None of my own shoes would work in a costume modeling situation- either too covered or too colorful. Plus, honestly the platform is needed for many many costumes. They HAVE to be long to accommodate ladies who need the length.
I don't know how tall Typhrodisia is...and haven't noticed if she's donning the clear stripper shoes too. What's even funnier...the other day I noticed they have what looks like space for a battery. I think they are the dreaded light up kind!

Kitty is the only one who has worn wigs. Right now though it's her natural hair- and she changes that quite frequently. She's an art student- likes to play with color and angled cuts.

I dont mind any of it, It is my favorite store, I love the models, the customer service, the costumes and most of all I drool over how perfect samira looks in every costume. I have decided she is not human, there is no way any one can look that gorgeous

Who is the new model? I like her, too.

I think they are very beautiful. Only a few days ago I found out Samira was the "hot" red hair model on the website!
I think the only wrong thing are the photos. They seem not to have enough light and the background is not always the best. I prefer the outdoor photos just because they have a better light effect.

Samira, do you dance at Taste of Morocco in Silver Spring? I saw a dancer there earlier this month who looked like you. (If it was you, I loved your blue costume!)

Hi Sitara, I DO work at Taste of Morocco in Silver Spring...BUT, it might not have been me!
If you saw an Arabic show with cane it was Damiena http://www.damiena.com She's got waist length red curly hair!!
If you saw a show with double veil and sword (what I call my "American audience show") then it was me. My hair is red and curly too, but shorter than bra strap level.

I'd love to be a BDStore model if I lived in D.C. and fit into costumes off the rack! I could only imagine how fun that must be ..g.:

There's a lot you can do with your hands other than putting them on your belly. On the hip, or high up at the waist would even look nicer! Maybe I can give the models coaching? But only if they compensate me with hot petite sized costumes

It has it's pros, like trying on the Sahars first thing when she gets back :

To model bellydance costumes would be one of my ultimate dream jobs. Never mind that modeling involves a lot of pulling and pinning - once you get into those bedlahs, everything else goes out of your head!

That pants costume might be pretty with a skirt panel added to it. The top is really nice.

SamiraShuruk, how do you resist buying costumes every time you go in to model? That would be hard. That "naked" dress looks great on you.

As to the model in green. She IS very pretty. There are three of them- either cousins or sisters- and they're all beautiful.
One of them earnestly told me she took a 6 week class and then worked "really hard" with videos before performing out. I of course invited her to check out Bhuz, tribe and other resource boards, hoping to entice her with knowledge of the dance and knowledge to make more money (undercutting). The girls who work at the store mentioned something to them about a troupe costume. They responded "what's a troupe?". ..cr.:
Wide leg stances like that on models ... are not my cup of tea and have little to do with dance poses or postures.
But they're lovely and seem sweet. It's nice to have different sizes and different looks for the costumes.

I LOOOOVE bellydancestore photos and their models.
It's fun to see Kitty in different hairwigs (also very interesting how the hair can change someones look so much) and I appreciate that they put so many costumes on a model, not on a figurine.
It must take lot of time and I would never complaint about the background and so on.
It's great to see costume on a real body, it always looks better then on plastic manequin.
Go on, you do it right! ;-)
