    Low cost class gear

I know that this topic tends come up every now and then so I'm posting my finds here so everyone can benefit from it. (I'm in Canada, but I suppose equivalents can be found anywhere).

-yoga pants: Zellers has a line called Sportek that has great quality clothes. Their yoga pants on sale, run about 17$. There are sales on this line about every 6 weeks or so. All the lycra pants and shorts in the Sportek line are made of moisture-wicking weave, odor inhibting lycra. (The cotton-lycra ones tend to fade after a few washes, the black ones anyway, so I tend to purchase the lycra ones instead. Those last forever even when throwing them in the dryer regularly). Mark's Work Wearhouse has yoga pants too under the Denver Hayes label, about 30$. I don't find them to be as nicely cut has the Sportek ones though. (The Sportek ones have a little V shaped dip in the front) Winners has some nice ones too under the Kyodan label, but the dryer will def. wear those out faster. They cost around 35$.

-dance trunks: Sportek again. Actually, not sure if they're supposed to be actual dance trunks but they are exactly like biker shorts, only shorter. On sale, they're 12$. Right now, Zellers has them in black, grey and platinum (pale grey). Wal Mart has boy shorts bikini bottoms for 13 $ that would also work great for that purpose.

-Wrap tops: Zellers had a few this winter, but I don't see them these days. This seems to be a winter item. They have long sleeves and are made out of a knit fabric, very soft. 15$ approx.

-tank tops: Mark''s Work Wearhouse has awesome tank tops, both with and without built in bra, under their Denver Hayes label. These are bit more expensive at around 20$ but the fabric is top notch and even a D cup will find those supportive (enough so for a low or no impact class anyway). Kyodan (@ Winners) has built-in bra tank tops too, but those have a rather deep cut V in the front. They also run a bit more expensive @ 30$.

    con't...

-hip scarves: flea markets around here have them in all colors (7$, 3 rows of coins), with plastic "gems" trimming at the waist (7$, two rows of coins), or with colorful beads instead of coins (20$, but the decorated part is longer and seems to fit "luxury-model" ladies better) *g*. A new age boutique in the area also sells coin belts for 15$. If you wish to make your own scarf, Indian fabric stores have shelves and shelves of brocade, sequin and braid trim for 2$/yard. Fringe does seem harder to find though, only Fabricland carries it in my area and it is in their home decorating section. Goodwill stores do have interesting shawls and scarves that can be used for that purpose and the Dollar stores have those little "ponchos" (looks like a doily with fring and a hole in the middle for your head) @2/1$. you can cut the fringe off and sew it in double rows at the bottom of the hipscarf. Granted, it is not the most refined look, but for class it is a low cost, fun option.

-veils: Indian fabric shops are the best. The average chiffon veil (3 yards) will set you back about 5$. The assortment of colors is mind boggling. (They also have polyester satin for 9$ a yard!!!) Len's Mills has great options too and they have this policy that if you finish a bolt of fabric they give you an extra 15% off, on top of the sale price. You can end up with enough fabric for harem pants and a veil for less than 15$ if you happen to like what's on sale and you have some sewing skills...

-dance bags: Mark's Work Wearhouse has this awesome yoga bag with a separate shoe compartment and yoga mat straps that is on sale these days for 15$.

There you have it. Hope this helps someone out there!

Victoria's Secret often has their yoga pants for $25. That's the least expensive I can find in my area.

I bought my yoga pants at Target for under $20; they are made by Champion.

The Champion stuff I've bought from Target has always been very durable and affordable. I've had some great sports bras that have lasted for years. I have several of their yoga pants and the elastic is beginning to go in one pair, but that's after about four or five years of frequent use and some weight fluctuations.

Old Navy has some good cheap sturdy yoga pants at oldnavy.com. Around $20 for plus size.
