Re: Ultra Bad-Ass Vintage Costumes
Found it, I think! Frank Frazetta (born 1928) is a comic book and sci-fi/fantasy paperback cover artist. I didn't actually find a statement about these costumes being called Frazettas, but I'm pretty sure this is the word I was looking for. The info fits.
Interestingly enough, his son owns a well stocked costume shop in East Stroudsburg, Pa. Wonder how many Frazettas are in stock.
Not much of a website, you need to visit in person if you want to see the merchandise, but this gives the address and contact info if anyone's interested:

Generally, the bra is brass. Ouch! Like Princess Leia's. There is a belly dancer with a YouTube channel who goes to Star Wars conventions dressed in a replica of Princess Leia's slave costume. She's a big hit.

Re: Ultra Bad-Ass Vintage Costumes
I wasn't sure if I should share this next batch. They aren't belly dance costumes, but vintage fashions inspired by the middle east. But then I thought some of you will love these. I think all the photos are by Henry Clarke:

Re: Ultra Bad-Ass Vintage Costumes
Since I noticed a corbis watermark on some of these it made me interested in checking out the corbis archive for bd photos. They have some cool vintage shots, but I don't think I should post them here. But you can check them out:

I don't know how I missed this thread but it is absolutely fantastic. But the one dancer with the pasties is definitely over the top.

Re: Ultra Bad-Ass Vintage Costumes
And don't foget, with a bad ass costume, you need a bad ass pair of sequined shoes! (They were $5 at a thrifshop)
I can not dance with those but you can be sure that for a photoshoot I will wear those for a truly 60s-vintage-bad ass-look!
