Hmm I can't tell for anybody else, but I think the hourglass is very much a genetic thing. I'm slim to skinny depending on the stress level and eating habits I have (lose weight like crazy when under stress), but I've always had a pronounced hour glass.
Despite almost non-existent curves above and below the waist :)

Of course the effect would be more pronounced with a larger chest and wider hips, but the effect is definitely there even without the big curves.

While one can certainly "work towards" curves with microwave pizza, as J.Lo suggests :), I think the hourglass you either have, genetically, or you don't. (Or you resort to unhealthy kinds of waist creation like Cher and her infamously removed ribs - eewww..)

Can I ask something?
I've never quite understood what "bad ass" means. Wild in a good way is what I've come to grasp so far.. the literal meaning is strange though.. :)

My god Samara doesn't age (it's a little creepy) and thanks for all the pics, I'm on a total vintage glamour kick, too bad I don't have hours to do my hair and makeup in the morning :)

I also love the grecianish cleopatra dresses...

Some of these vintage bedleh would make even Dina blush!
