Thread: Shadow-to-liner converters: Liquif-Eye vs. Transformer?

Calling all eye makeup buffs:

I've used Paula Dorf Transformer with powder shadow to create a custom eyeliner. The effect was very pretty, but the staying power could have been better, so I'm looking for other options. It doesn't have to be car paint you need a chisel to remove -- aka MAC Liquidlast -- but it does have to stand up to sweat. Has anyone tried Too Faced Liquif-Eye or another similar product? How'd it go?

I was using Metamorfix from Lise Watier (Québec, Canada) until I found out watching the tv program "Ten years younger" that contact lenses solution works as well!

It does OK for me and I've been using it for over a year now. Also very unexpensive!

LOL I love liquid eyeliner and khol - I ve been looking at the MAC products for some time now. Never tried them so far, but what you say does not sound THIS thrilling!
I use l'Oréal, the liquid liner is beautiful, I do think it could stay on *a bit* better. after a long day, the line is there, but not as "consistent" as it used to be when applied. It s still a product I like a lot. For a performance you might want to try it. I'm pretty sure it is water-proof. And the first 5, 6 hours it stays on REALLY well!
Have you guys tried the MAC mascaras? I'm up for trying them, but I do not use waterproof for everyday, and seem to be somewhat of a "smearer". Many l'Oréal ones stay on well for me, but some expensive ones like Dior Show make me look like a clown occasionally.
Suggestions, ladies? :)

I use a liner brush dipped in a drop of Visine. Works great with any type of pressed powder or loose powder shadow and stays put - LOVE it!

This is positively water-proof, but not quite as chisel-proof ;-) as Liquidlast: Sephora: MAKE UP FOR EVER Eye Seal: Eyeliner

It did not burn my eyes, and it does not have the uncomfortable feel that I get from She-Laq.

Steffi, this sounds like just the thing. She-Laq works great but feels very stiff to me, and most other sealants and fixatives make my eyeballs itch. Thank you!

Thanks for the others for the recommendations as well. I will have to try those saline and Visine tricks -- that would never in a million years have occurred to me.

DinaV, I wear waterproof mascara and still get raccoon eyes. The only ones that don't smudge off for me are the "tubular" types like Fiberwig -- those are great! The application and removal are different from regular mascara -- don't let it dry between coats, and remove with warm water -- but they really stay put. My favorite drugstore mascara of this type is Maybelline "Define-A-Lash" waterproof in the lime-green tube; I think for you that would be Maybelline/Jade "Stretch & Define."

Don't let me put you off LiquidLast -- the colors are fantastic. But be prepared to use a very oily remover and lots and lots of patience to get it off!

BTW, I like Fiberwig Mascara but can only buy it on eBay. Is there a well known brand similar kind of product that's sale in USA (and probably Canada)?

Maybelline Define-A-Lash waterproof is very similar, I find, for about half the price. It has similar staying power on me and applies/removes in the same way. The one in the magenta tube is more thickening, the green tube is more lengthening. I haven't tried the non-waterproof version.

Oh thanks for the info on the different Maybelline versions. I've wondered about them pretty often, but there would be so many to try... I guess I will give maybelline a try, it has a good reputation.
Many people say the magenta one is one of the best, and that at a great price.
