animal print costumes?
i'm brewing up the idea of making one (like i need any more costumes
) but i've only seen a handful of animal prints i've LOVED. everything else is too ordinary, not the right shade, or too common.
anyone have any kickass pics of some awesome animal print costumes? the costume i've been brainstorming would be brown leopard-ish with teal and gold accents but would love to see other prints, shades, accents, etc.
thanks :)

I don't have one but if you go on to Rania's website (if it's up now) and she was wearing one in her drum solo DVD that is gorgeous. Or maybe you can find it on YouTube. (Sorry, this is the best I can do.)

Re: animal print costumes?
I have one--I actually bought it from Lotus Niraja at the swap meet. :D There are some pictures of it in my bhuz gallery. (I still need to add more padding to the bra, but I wanted to wear it for our in-studio shoot last December, lol.)

Re: animal print costumes?
The one I have is leopard with turquoise, gold, and rhinestone beading. And I get soooo many compliments on it. It is probably my finest looking costume. This is me performing in it but the lighting is not so good. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aV2s0npoMZw]YouTube - Maestro Beirut Night Part 1[/ame]
There is a version of it on Dahlal actually if you search "Animal Allure." The fabric is actually leopard print on snakeskin! How crazy is that? It's a really classy print, and the turquoise and gold is excellant.
There is one on Belly Dance Store I love a lot. It is a similar print, perhaps a bit more yellow gold, and an excellant costume. Belly Dance Store.com: galleryLast edited by nadira82; 06-02-2009 at 10:31 AM. Reason: Edit.

Re: animal print costumes?
I have cream/brown/turquoise leopard fabric in my project pile along with turquoise fringe and some really cool stones and jewels. It's just waiting to be turned into a costume.

Re: animal print costumes?
I like animal print too...but wouldn't you know that my partner loathes it. He doesn't even like animal print lingerie! What is wrong with him? I would probably never get an animal print costume based on that. :-(

Re: animal print costumes?
haha
my bf has no say so whatsoever in my costume purchases. i don't ask for his opinion (cuz he'd just say 'anything looks good on u' no matter how i ask so he's not much help there). however i figure that since i'm showing so much midriff and cleavage the last thing he'll notice is the color of the costume ..l;,
heck, if it were up to him i'm sure he'd have me sport one of those bd mini costumes in all black cuz he thinks that color is sexy on me and loves when i show some leg. too bad for him i have neither any black nor any mini bd costumes in my closet lol

Re: animal print costumes?
It's not as if he dictates my choices. Of course not! It's just if I am going to dish out a lot of dough I want to look hot (especially to him)! And I don't want my partner to scowl or make icky faces. .w.: He already hates half of my costume collection any way. Mostly because of their price tags! ..l;,

Re: animal print costumes?
Yea seriously what is up with that?! I no longer tell mine about what I spend. On clothes period. As if it's his business! We need to have a spin off thread complaining about lame boyfriends. And just remember sweetie, your next boyfriend might like leopard print! Teeheehee.
Zana - look up the one on Dahlal it's almost identical. I should be getting some still shots soon I hope.

Re: animal print costumes?
i've been thinking of getting this and turning into a costume. make the bra and cover it w/the fabric from the halter and embellish both bra and skirt. i love ruffles (that's the flamenco dancer in me lol) but not sure if it's "THE" costume look i'd want with this print, ya know?

they also have one in snow leopard but i like the brown better

I think Anala once explained it by saying, "yabba dabba do!"
