Thanks for the great information--very useful. Here's a quick, but I hope welcome thread jack. Thank you so much for the "daytime" make-up lesson at the recent Black Orchid Dance Retreat in Atlanta. I took my little paper face worksheet (and the rest of me) into Sephora, and it was so easy for the folks there to match up the colors you blended with their products. Also, I'm now a fan of primer--thanks to you and DHC velvet coat.

I thought it was all good but particularly appreciated the information about how to work the muscles of the body when posing--good stuff there.

Do you mind if I forward this to my Harajuku photographers with the blog link. They are always interested in knowing how models and dancers prepare and some of them might work with otehr dancers one day. I would be sure to credits you and remind them no to use any portions of the text.

They always read my shoot portmordems.

Thanks, Dunyah! I learned it a long time ago from a 'tog who shoots a lot of nudes so he knows what he sees and what he's talking about.

I sent it off to the head photographer, he loved it and sent it out to a variety of the photographers and MUA's who are part of the group.

Things I would add: Do ask what formats are available for playing music at the location you want to shoot at. Some places are set up for MP3 players, some just on CD.

When you know what sort of poses/moods you will be going for, give thought to creating your cd playlists to reflect/inspire these goals. Pratice not just your poses, but performing the exagerated dynamic movements with your music at home so it will feel natural.

Before you get a mani-pedi, do your costume spot checks for loose threads, firm fasteners, any hook adjustments, additional padding. Pack extra safety pins with each costumes. If you are using veils, IRON THEM! Silk veils can be a special crack to photographers.

It's not been on my calendar, but if I can get registrations, a host studio, and a good 'tog, I'm there!

Wow. That was comprehensive! I wish I had read this before I did my first photo shoot-now I want to do another! And yes, they are exhausting! Makes me give professional models a bit more credit. Thanks Azhia!
