boobs...and padding Emans...a spinoff...
I was reading the post from the ladies with the "deflated" boobs...I actually have the...well, not exactly opposite...but a contrary problem.
I have *some* material (I mean, I'm a 32C, 32D right before my period sometimes so I'm hardly flat) but still a little smaller than a lot of costume bras (plus given that most costume bras are shaped like no human boob on the planet, even many more well-endowed women need to fill in the odd gaps.)
But...my girls are shaped like little greek church domes--wide at the base and sloping over the top with a nice wide alley between the two churches. They're also not easy to push and mash around to shape over padding. Thing is, right now, so many designers are making these odd shaped round cups (e.g. Eman, et. al.) that really seem to call for you to push the girls together a bit, but the cups curve over the top in a shape that is closer to a softball than a dome. Well...I need just a touch of padding for a propper fit (to say nothing of getting a nicer, fuller look), but when I try to pad the underside or the outside of the cup, the whole boob mass pushes in/up and I get double-bubble on part of the inner edge of the cup (where the cup cuts into my boob) and the cup pushing away and thus gapping along part of the upper edge. Arrg. It almost seems like I need a little pad or lining along that upper edge, but then that seems to look weird and give a really thick edge.
Has anyone else experienced this with "church dome boobs" and Emans and found a way to fix? ...Or do I just have circus freak boobs?Last edited by aamel_MirahAmmal; 06-02-2009 at 05:27 PM.

I'm barely an A and the newer Emans are some of the most problematic bras I've ever dealt with. Unlike Bellas, Pharaonics or Sims, Emans tend to fit worse after I pad them - padding just seems to make the entire cup stand out a mile away from the body

I don't have any advice for you, only sympathetic frustration. Hopefully, something other than the "Dina" bra will come back into fashion. I miss flattering bras...

I hear you. I've heard about what "wonders" Sahars are supposed to be--especially for the lesser endowed--but I find they present similar problems and the more I try to pad, the worse they get. The other bra shape that left me utterly confounded was that "football" shape that was so en vogue for several years there. I mean really--whose boob is shaped like a rounded duck bill?
The only designer I've ever found who really made GREAT bras for my shape was Bella. *sigh* Oh won't some super famous dancer fall in love with HER shape of cup and get all the designers emulating THAT shape for a while?

Bellas are definitely the most humanlike bra option on the market right now
. Plus, I love how the wired edges conform to your shape.
Didem loves her Bellas! And her bras are never oddly shaped. Now, if only her good taste were as influential as Dina's...

Re: boobs...and padding Emans...a spinoff...
Hi Mirah, I had the same probs with my Emans. I tried padding it myself - didn't work. It filled up the bra cups, but the "wide alley between the churches" didn't look right. I took mine to a seamstress who does pro dancers costumes. She padded it a little differently (heavier at the bottom of the cup I think), moved the straps closer and shortened them, and all of a sudden I had a nice cleavage, and the overall look was just right. So, I would suggest to take it to a pro seamstress.

Eman's Dina cups take a different approach and often need the straps adjusted in or out to really hug along the top line.

For Eman's newer cups, I need to change the angle the shoulder straps and make them point more inward..this helps push the top of the cup inward to my chest, and I can get away with padding

Re: boobs...and padding Emans...a spinoff...
I'm wondering if part of the problem is that the smaller Eman cups (the ones closer to my *actual* size) don't work because the shape is all wrong. With the ones that were CLEARLY too large (the next size up) I was able to move the straps and pad them and make them work...it's these ones that are more proportional to my actual size that just don't seem to be working. I'll have to see if I can get on my my seamstress's calendar to see if she thinks this one can be worked out....

Re: boobs...and padding Emans...a spinoff...
i think i'll never buy an eman again. i bought two at a dance festival and hoda zaki padded them for me. there wasn't time for refitting after she altered. when i got home and tried none of them worked. so much for designer.
now i padded it some more and added wire. it still gap but at least on top but it's not dangerous. although i will now try to put the straps closer like the other posts said.

Wire...that's probably *part* of the answer... doesn't entirely fix a shape that's really intended for...erm..."synthetically enhanced" breasts (or a pair of navel oranges) rather than real breasts, but it might help with the tendancy Emans have to curl awkwardly at the top which is contributes to the too tight in one place/gapping in another issue.

I second wingaki's suggestion of using wire. It doesn't get rid of gapping, but it does help to minimize it.
In one of my Emans, I did a diagonal mini-strap running from the center of the cup to about where the halter would hit my neck. Since I was able to decorate the strap to blend in with the overall design, it actually looked cute! And it helped to kind of spread the cups out across the chest, rather than away from it.
Lemme know if you need pics.

Re: boobs...and padding Emans...a spinoff...
I actually think part of the problem with these cups is that they arent tipping away/in to center*enough*--so as soon as I pad, there's no room for my boob, but there's still gapping on the other side. I'm hoping a combo of wire and maybe moving the straps will fix it.
The irony of it is, the gal I bought it from and I have pretty much the same measurements--the band of the bra fits perfectly (don't even need to move hooks), the neck strap fits perfectly where the hooks are, the hips are perfect, the length is perfect...even the general *payload* of the cup isn't bad...if not for the cup shape, I could wear this tomorrow. But...it looks like I have some major costume surgery ahead of me to make it work. Ah well--just further proof of what my seamstress always says: measurements lie. :-)
