Thread: Radical makeover of the dangerous dress...before & after!

I loved this dress on sight for the carwash skirt and the contrast of the covered front/exposed back...what I didn't like was the poorly placed flower dead center on the belly and the seed bead edging on the bra and top of the skirt that left my skin scratched no matter how careful I was putting it on. I played around with it, even turning the skirt and attaching in different places...on the side, too Tarzan-looking....in the back, interesting but impossible to get into without assistance.

I decided a radical makeover was the answer ..g.:

Enter half a yard of lime green/metallic gold lycra and two necklace/earring sets. The necklaces have lots of bronze and gold but also really accentuated the iridescent green in the sequins. I used them for the side drapes and the earrings became the center drape on the bra. I liked the look so the lime/gold lycra seemed like a good choice for the additions. I added a wide sash to the top of the skirt and accented with beads removed from the former belly flower. I made piping for the top of the bra cups and the bottom of the bra band and a matching headband. The last thing will be piping for the top of the sleeves. No more scratchy seed beads!

I tried looking for this costume a couple days after you posted it and couldn't find it (silly me, I was searching for "copper" and "bronze" and forgot that it was named Dangerous). Kinda bummed that it's not available anymore, but I must say the skirt is much more flattering on you now. Nice job! :)

Great job. I dont like the "big connector" style on anybody! ...looks like a pair of overalls with a strap gone missing or loose. I think I may have spent too much time in the South!

It's so much more comfortable to wear without those little beads scratching my skin...not to mention I feel better knowing there's less chance of muffin spillage with that oh-so-forgiving gathered band on the skirt!
