Thread: What kind of jewelry with Egyptian Cabaret Costumes?

.p:: So, egyptian cabaret costumes always seem to be so complete, ..and Seriously bedazzled..so what kind of jewelry do you wear with them? I know a lot of people just don't, but how often (and what) do people wear jewelry with their EC costume??? Pics anyone?

I prefer a simple rhinestone necklace and earrings.

I don't mess around with anklets, upper arm bracelets etc. any more because they seem to catch on every frickin' thing!

When it comes to jewelry, I feel you have to wear some, and it should be scaled appropriately for your costume -- big enough to hold its own against the built-in bling! -- but also, less is more. I love sparkle as much as the next person (probably more) but I don't want to look like Christmas in July. It's distracting.

I like sparkly things.. dangley earrings, a pretty necklace. If the skirt is slit I might add an ankle bracelet .. but I must confess, the pink "ankle bracelet" I wear with my pink cab dress is actually a beaded $2 hair scrunchie ...

Cabaret outfits are so sparkly they can stand on their own without accessories, and too much can distract from their beauty. Jewelry with a cabaret costume is like the little sprinkles on top of an ice cream sundae -- just enough to add a touch of fun.

Now with my tribearet outfits, I wear tons and tons of costume jewelry. But that's a different topic.

I seek out jewelry that coordinates with the costume and often this will be vintage costume jewelry from thrift stores or found trolling in the cheap zone on e-bay. I go for big, bold pieces that show up well from a distance. Things I would certainly not wear to the office!

There are dangerous jewelry/costume combinations. While I do love rhinestones, I avoid prong set stones if I'm going to use a veil. One of my favorite old tales of terror is about the time I was wearing a big upper arm snake bracelet and it got tightly hooked into my bra cup during floor work...l;,

It's difficult for me to answer because it's going to depend on the costume. Some I'd pile on the flashy bling, and then some would look better with less.

I am one of those who wears Indian sets with my costumes. Mainly because they are easy to get and they come in many colours and styles.

I do like the Indian sets for dressing up and going out, although I think it is a "cultural breach". They look like they do not belong with the Egyptian style, at least to me. The dangling headpiece is an absolute no-go to me (for anyone who knows some about ethnic jewellery it will be odd - it definitely is an Indian bridal piece, and has NOTHING to do with the Arabian stuff), the necklace and earrings often do not represent such striking misfits though (at least IMO).

No tikka's and no ear chains! Just the necklaces and earrings!

I would feel naked without big earings!! For me I feel it competes the look

I tend to wear bling rhinestone earrings (love sparkles around the face) and depending on the costume sometimes add rhinestone necklace, bangles or ring. I have one set that goes with most of my costumes

oh, forgot to say that i got these items from a ballroom dancing shop.The ring and other items dont have any claws (holding in stones) that would otherwise catch on a costume

But I leave off the tikka (thing which goes on the forehead) and the chains which connect from earlobe to the hair above the ear. They have a real name, I just can't remember it right now!

Pile it on. Especially with the simpler Sahar or Eman costumes. A great rhinestone necklace will just offset the beauty of the costume. Bracelets and arm cuffs are great too. Plus....you sparkle.
