Choli friendly bra?
Hey ladies.
I LOVE fat chance style cholis. The backless ones. Sometimes i like the look of just the choli with no bra on top. I think most people just don't wear a bra when they do that.
Unfortunately "the girlz" are very much too large for me to do that. I must wear a bra, especially when dancing . . It is just indecent not to for me.
I have yet to find a bra that will work underneath a backless choli without the straps showing. Strapless bras have too wide of a rib cage strap. I even looked at the 100 way bra from Victorias Secret, but I can't figure out how I could get it to work without showing . . . .
If anyone has found a bra that works or at least shows minimally underneath a backless choli, please let me know.
Thanks!

Re: Choli friendly bra?
I have a friend who has too wear a bra and I have found 2 solutions that work for her.
To leave the bra intact, add a wide band of fabric that matches the choli. Just tack it to one side of the back opening and use snaps on the other side. The actual straps of the bra are pushed as far to the sides as possible and had tacked down with thread.
The other option is to make sure you are starting with a non-stretch choli made from sturdy fabric that fits perfectly. Cut the back part of the band off and remove the straps and actually sew it to the inside of the choli. I also replace the bottom tie on the choli with a wider sash-like tie to make sure it stays snug (the choli will need at least three sets of ties down the back.

Re: Choli friendly bra?
I have made a tube of ME embroidered fabric and put the band inside the tube, fastened the bra and pushed the tube over the hook and eye area of the bra. I shows the embroidery off and looks finished.

Re: Choli friendly bra?
The type of choli I wear has long sleeves and shoulder coverage with a tie at the upper back and lower ribcage.

Re: Choli friendly bra?
I am a wee bit confused - there are two choli/bra threads going on.
Anyways, yet another choice to add a little bit more support is to sew in a bathing suit bra, which is basically just two cups without any further support, into the inside of a choli. I like to do that for antique cholis, to add a bit of a lining, to add a little more support, and if the fabric is thinner, to make sure the nipples don't poke up at inapprorpiate moments.

It might be too heavy for your neck, but sometimes dancers wear halter bathing suit tops under cholis.
