I shopped at her atelier last year in person, and her prices were much higher than the Belly Dance Store. (Costumes like this were around the $800 - $1200 range.) I'm not sure if Sahar is wholesaling to Shahrzad or if Shahrzad is discounting items to move them.

Let me know if you get in contact with Sahar - I tried to call her last month while I was in Egypt but her phone line is disconnected, and no one had her new number.

i know that she is on facebook and tends to respond to messages there fairly quickly. :-)

i emailed her last night and she got back to me pretty quickly but she didn't mention the price. i'll let u ladies know. i thought generally if u order from the designer directly it's a lot cheaper. hanan has offered to make me a full costume (bra and skirt) for $350 incl. shipping to the US, while dahlal and other places sell for around $500..or maybe she's just that generous? lol

Zana - You're right - generally, if you order directly from designers, it's cheaper. But not necessarily by much.

Sahar and Hallah Moustafa are two exceptions, and do not offer discounts for direct orders. (Or, at least they were, maybe Sahar has changed?)

I'm speaking to Sahar about a custom basic, and have been quoted a price less than I have seen on other sites (and shipping was included). Just the push I needed to place the order! :) I'm not sure about the costs for buying the $800+ costumes direct though, as I definitely can't justify one of those at the moment, lovely as they are!

well she quoted me somewhat cheaper..$550 instead of the $595 at the bdstore. but i'm assuming that's without shipping which would only make it $10 cheaper..
