calling all metal heads & rockers...
do you remember how to do this "t-shirt" braiding technique? i remember the slashing horizontally thing, but not how to get the vertical braid

After doing the slashing, you take the top most piece and pull it down and under the one just below. Then take the second one and pull it through the loop formed by the first. Repeat.
Does that make sense?

Wouldn't you cut vertical lines to do that, just like horizontal? Just guessing here.

exactly what tahira said. Think crochet, it's the same principle. Mind you, in the picture you posted, the maker had the good sense of making the top most slash a tad smaller, so the braid is easy to center. When you get to the bottom, sew the braid down into place.
(Ok, now I want to make me a pair of those, with a matching top and drill hip drops to "Shook me all night long"... I know, I need help *g*)
