Any other short-haired dancers out there?

I have short hair mostly due to my hair being very fine and thin. This is obviously a problem when it comes to dancing. I'm always looking for scarf and head wraps. Has anyone tried hair falls or pieces? How did they work out?

I recently cut over a foot of hair off. I do hair falls or sometimes just go with what I have. I've never done a full wig though because I'm not comfortable in the way they look and I have this fear of losing them while dancing.

I also have really short hair and dance with it as is. I usually tie a long scarf around my head to give the illusion of it being longer.

I haven't tried wigs or falls. I'm too worried about them falling out because my hair is so fine. I have to use a ton of bobby pins just to keep a scarf or headband on.

I recently cut my hair from waist length to very short. Am not dancing professionally, but if there werea student show or such I would just wear my short hair with a nice styling.

I cut my hair a couple of months ago, but it's now starting to grow out because I've been jobless and haven't wanted to spend the money on keeping it up (my hair grows fast and I have a lot of it). When it was freshly cut and looked really cute, I wore it as is, with a flower clip tucked behind one ear. Now that it's at an in-between phase, I'm wearing a clip-in pony. I have really thick hair, though, and the pony stays in with no problem. I want to make clip-in extensions, but I don't know how well they would blend with my growing-out style.

As for reactions, at the Lebanese club where I work, they have no problems with my short hair, but at the Persian restaurants where I sometimes dance, they have a distinct preference for the pony tail. And I've also worn it for private parties where I know they expect hair.

I have pixie-short hair; I usually wear a black bobbed wig under which I use a wig cap. I pin the wig to the cap and my hair with the huge bobby pins- one by each of my ears, one in my bangs and 2 at my nape. Knock on wood, I have not lost a wig while performing. I am currently waiting for a longer wig and hope it works just as well. I do not feel secure in any hair piece other than a full wig.

PS: My black bob I purchased for about $10 nigh on 10 years ago~ it really was an amazing bargain as it looks natural.

When I wore my baby fine hair at shoulder length - just long enough to make a small, skinny little ponytail barely as big around as my pinky finger - I used a clip-on ponytail fall. Now that it just barely reaches the nape of my neck, I'll either have to just wear it short or get a full wig. I've got a really nice 3/4 fall, but because my bangs & layers are so short it ends up looking like a mullet.

Recently, I bought this 3/4 wig from Wild Cats on eBay and I am just in love with it!

My hair is cut in layers and I comb the top layer over the edge of the wig and I usualy wear a head band matching my costume.

It's a super eBay seller, the shipping took less than 5 days to Canada, the fastest shipping I've ever experienced with eBay!

eBay Store - WILDCAT WIGS: Synthetic Wigs, Theatre Costume Fun Wigs, Barbie Tiny Kitty DOLL Wigs

Here is a pic of me wearing it (no a good one I admit ) But as you can see the bang is my real hair and the fall in the back of the headband is the 3/4 hair pet!

I even have wore it for an outside gig on a terrace and it was very windy, I had no problem at all. It's stays very secure!

    Hug!

Re: Any other short-haired dancers out there?

Bumping this up since I've got the same question! My hair is shoulder length, not very long because I do not want to mess with it while getting ready for work. But I'm doing a piece that includes some torso drops, and long hair would look nice. At the same time, it's getting too late for me to try to get used to a wig; I'll be performing in less than 3 weeks.

    Any suggestions, comments, advice?

    Hi!

What about extensions? Ok - its more work but this is the fastest way apart from a wig, I think.

    Love, Sahira.

Re: Any other short-haired dancers out there?

I have long hair and use extensions from time to time to fill up my hairs for more volume as they are very thin and fine.

But even with extensions you have to get used to it, there is quite some weight more on your head. Plus they don't stay as well in some types of hair than others. My hair is very fine and smooth so the toupee clips that come with clip-in extensions tend to slip down after a while, no matter how many of them I sew in.

I have a chin length, inverted bob... stacked in the back and longer in the front. I alternate between wearing a longer wig and just going natural.

The wig is nice for shows that happen immediately after workshops, so I don't have to worry about sweaty workshop hair. I can just pull the wig on and go.

I have a chin length bob as well, and I just go natural with it. I manage to do some hair accent moves even at this length. :)
