OMG. I must have gotten a lucky strike. My troupe custom ordered bedlahs from Dahlal roughly 16 weeks ago & they are on their way today. No waiting through months of Egyptian holidays, no delays in customs, no cases of 'we've been waiting so long we forgot we ordered anything'.
I'm waiting in my home for UPS as we speak. The tracking says they're en route. Please please please make them all the right size & color.

Re: UPS has my troupe costumes!
Ooops! LoL. I went away right after I posted this for a long weekend. They did arrive, each one in its own bag with the dancer's name on it. I expected a box full of bras and belts & we'd all be nit picking each other over who got which sized item.
The fit was pretty good. The belts were almost spot-on. A little hook moving & we're good. The bras were generally a bit on the large size but nothing some padding and cup repositioning can't fix.
We ordered beyond the basics II from Dahlal and as you can clearly see in EVERY picture, BTBII has paillettes. https://www.dahlal.com/default.aspx?...+the+basics+II
We specifically ordered the paillette version so that we could use the bedlahs for cabaret or to glitz up folksy costumes like our gahwazee coats (the pailettes looking like shiny coins). We decided that it would be tempting the twisted hands of fate to send them back and request 9 sets with paillettes. We'd probably be waiting on those to come from Egypt until 2011 and like so many others would rue the day we custom ordered troupe costumes. Especially since we all have coin bra/belt sets that go just fine with the folk costumes. They just don't sparkle as brightly.
I spent an hour or so reinforcing my bead strands with thread-end glue. The costumes are sturdy & basic, better than many of the cheapie basic sets I've seen but I wouldn't quite call them "workhorses" because some of the sequins/beads were already loose. I have a true Abla workhorse that I could run over with a lawn mower and it wouldn't shed a bead.
Our experience with custom order troupe costumes? On a scale of 1-10 I would say a 9.
Shahla in our troupe made us snazzy stretch velvet straight skirts w/matching gauntlets & headbands in three shades of pink/purple (orchid, fuschia, and eggplant) to with the bedlahs. I'll have to take some pics of us all dolled up and post them to share.Last edited by Jessani; 07-02-2009 at 03:28 PM.
