Velvet skirt creeposis?
Man, am I glad I did a dry run on this particular skirt....it creeps, and creeps, and creeps...
...and bunches under my belt! It's black panne' velvet and I love the fit because it isn't too tight. The nap of the fabric points downward, so if I run my hand down it feels smooth, rough going up. Could that be the problem? Is the nap facing the wrong direction? Or should I take my skirt in so it fits more snugly? I've not had this problem before and would love to find a fix so I can wear it.
Thank you in advance for any input or advice...I love Bhuz!

Re: Velvet skirt creeposis?
The direction of the nap is probably the culprit. I always make my skirts so the nap points upward.
I wonder if you wore some bike shorts underneath if it would help keep the skirt from riding up. Maybe the smooth surface of the shorts would keep the fabric from shifting.

And I thought Creeposis was a horrible skirt disease. I agree with Shahla, I have had my skirts made with the nap pointing upward.

Re: Velvet skirt creeposis?
I sometimes attach my belt to my skirt with a few strategically placed large size snaps, usually to prevent the opposite problem (skirt sliding downward - which tends to happen to me because I wear slippery belly covers). If movement of your belt fabric against the nap of the skirt fabric is pulling the skirt up under the belt, I would think you could prevent that the same way. I think it might be important to position the snaps near the BOTTOM edge of the belt.

Re: Velvet skirt creeposis?
Hate to ask this, but are you sure it isn't too small?

You don't have to run and hide, Tahira. After reading just the title of the thread and before clicking on it, I thought it might be that the skirt is a wee bit tight, too -- it's a legitimate reason, and something I've experienced myself!
Doozer, I was going to suggest wearing cotton or other underwear that has it's own sort of nap but then I realized that I usually wear cotton underwear (ahhhh, much cooler than nylon) and have still experienced "the creep," so maybe that's not a great idea! Maybe the opposite would work better, ie slick underwear might not "catch" the nap of the skirt and help it to stay down where it belongs . . .
I dunno.
I await the answers from my fellow Bhuzzers.

Re: Velvet skirt creeposis?
My first thoughts would be either skirt slightly too tight or belt slightly too loose. Either one could contribute to the creeping. If the nap is causing it, it is probably because the belt is loose enough to allow motion and is rubbing against it/racheting it up. If the skirt is slightly too tight, it will pull up with some motions and then not have quite enough give to release back down - leading to slow creep.
Have you noticed anything to seems to make it worse or better? That might give another clue :)

Tahira, you're too funny. Nope, it's not too small...there's room in there, lol. After reading everyone's posts I think it could be the nap/size combination. It's such a strange sensation...there's a marked increase of air circulation around the ankles i.e. the skirt getting shorter as it bunches up under the belt, which incidentally is pretty snug as it's a two piece tribaret number with d-rings on the sides so I can really cinch that baby in. Dang it, I really like that skirt! It's a straight cut, so maybe I could just remake it, basically cutting it apart and turning it upside down to make the nap face the other direction. *sigh* Another project......
