    Matching Red

So there was a thread awhile back about how a lot of us match eyeshadow to costume color. What colors do you use with red costumes? I know there is always grey/black and brown, but curious about other ideas!

    I use red. ..l;,

No, really - I have a lovely deep wine coloured pigment from MAC that I use - obviously not all over the lid, but I definitely use it. My red costumes (2 of) are accented with gold, so I use a lot of metallics in the sort of "red" spectrum - gold, bronze, copper. One of the costumes has neon orange as an accent colour and I have neon orange eye shadow to match it. Y'know, as one does.

I tend to favour gold/ copper colours with red, I usually wear bright red lipstick, so red eyeshadow at the same time can be a bit much.
I did red eyeshadow once or twice and I kind of like it but it takes a little bit of getting used to. Also it has to be quite a vibrant colour, otherwise you look like you've been crying.

I like red eye shadow because it makes green eyes very green... I bought some at Hot Topic, but I've never worn it to dance.

I quite liked the red eyeshadow Jessica Taylor wore one week on on Dancing on Ice ( I can live without the hairstyle though!)

I thought this pic also looked good (for stage makeup):

Yes, I've used purple before and neutral eye. I like the peach idea too though.

    Re: Matching Red

I have a sort of hot pink from HIP. I wear it in the crease, with a light color (white or gold) on the lid. That way I don't look like I've been crying. I usually add a deep rich brown to the outer 1/3.

Or, I also go neutral smokey eye (brown suits me better than grey, but I sometimes mix in a dark grey for emphasis) with clear red lips.

In addition, I have a red costume with teal highlights so teal eye shadow goes good with it too. And, of course, MAC's Russian Red lipstick
