Stick supplier - UK
Anyone recommend a stick supplier UK - Aladdins cave don't seem to have any. I was looking for a nice fat one, maybe colourful, maybe that mottled brown colour (like the men use).

Go to your local hardware store and pick up a dowel. Have them cut it to your height. Then take it home and stain it.
And the word you are looking for is tahtib. . .

Or get lengths of PVC pipe and cut it to your desired length, then cover it with glitter tape. Lighter than wood.

I got a load of gold, silver and candy-striped canes from Maayan (of Brighton Orient). The staffs I would probably get from the guy who has the stall nearest the stage but opposite the Farida one at JoY (Hassan?)

I got my tahtib from Kay - it's a little long though, so I keep meaning to trim it. She didn't have as many tahtib as sparkly canes... but that *was* yonks ago!

I don't know if you're after a stick for yourself, or for your students. If it's for your students, you might want to bear in mind that the tahtib are way heavier than canes, and harder on the wrist, so may not be suitable for students who are new/newish to stickwork. I usually have a variety of sticks available for them to borrow so they can see for themselves whether a tahtib is a good choice for them. Word to the wise is all.
