Thread: How to move hooks on the Hanan and Sahar bras with stretchy sides?

OK, so I recently got a stunning Hanan on the Swap Meet. The bra is the style with the stretchy elastic sides. I've successfully moved the hook on the outside of the bra--that was easy, just put a safety pin where I want it to go and move the hook to there.

However, I'm not sure what to do about the inside hook (the one that faces in the opposite direction and hooks on the inside, on the other side of the bra, that's there just in case the other hook pops). I'm not sure of the best way to place it, since the straps are elastic. Do I figure out where to put it while the bra is off of my body, and unstretched? Or do I put the bra on and put a safety pin to mark where the strap ends while it is on me? I'm just trying to avoid uneven tension between the two straps; I want them to both stretch evenly.

Does this make sense? If anyone has any words of advice, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

I don't own a bra like that, but I do alot of costume work. I think you'd want to put it on and then have a friend mark where the hook needs to be. That way it'll account for the necessary stretch so that it's even and in the right place.

I have a very narrow ribcage, so what I ended up doing with my sahars is not moving hooks but folding the back strap into the bra cup. I undid the seam in the inside of the cup and when I folded the straps I sew them inside of the cup. Don't know if my explanation makes a lot of sense, but it seems to be the best solution for me.

Anybody else have pointers? Please?
