Now My Turn - Is This Bra Too Big?

I'm usually a pretty good judge of these things, but I'm trying to decide if this bra flatters me. My initial thought was that the cups seem too "tall." I'm pretty short from upper boob to shoulder, after all. But I get tons of compliments in this costume, so it might not be so bad!

Let me know what you think. Is it time to retire this to the Swap Meet? Any possible fixes? Halp, plz!

    So far, so good, eh?

Breathing a little sigh of relief....I always loved this costume. We're all so critical of our own wardrobes, sometimes.

i should probably explain re: padding- to me it looks like there might be some ever so slight gapping at the left cup? or maybe my eyes are deceiving me? nothing too major tho

Yeah, there's an itty bitty bit of gapping.

I'm thinking it's nothing that can't be fixed without quickly getting in there and repositioning the straps. The straps are still at the outermost edges of the cups and could stand to be moved in.

This is the only picture of you that doesn't make my jaw drop. It's not my favorite.

Just a little background...frequently before I eat something, I think, "I will never look like Satin Worship if I eat that". Then I eat it anyway...

    Aw, shucks

Well, the SatinWorship19 Diet consists of equal parts healthy vegetarian meals, fresh fruits and veggies, and frequent indulgences in bacon cheeseburgers and buffalo wings ..g.: . So it doesn't sound like you're too far off track! ..l;,

And yes, I do have several less-than-stellar pictures here on my hard drive. I've just mastered the art of only posting the pictures that make me look good. LOL ..g.:

OK, Yes, I think the bra looks to big. It looks like it's just sitting on your chest with nothing inside the cups. There is no clevage to make my mind think otherwise.
Other than that, the picture is beautiful.
Don't hate me, you asked, I answered.

I was the one who thought it might be too big, in the first place!

It's a lovely costume and you always look great in every picture I see of you! You're good at the selection process, plus you obviously photograph well. I'd say this bra looks like it's floating on you, especially on the top. But, and there is a but, I wouldn't have even thought of it unless you asked directly. I believe I'd seen the photo (or one similar?) in your website and I never thought, "Oh, that just looks wrong." I guess I'm saying, if we're going to be picky, yes, it's a little big. But I still think you look lovely in it. How about that for added confusion?

Re: Now My Turn - Is This Bra Too Big?

Mayliz, that was way too much for me to think about with so little coffee in my bloodstream....or is it blood in my coffeestream?

If I remember correctly, this particular picture was taken before I did any alterations whatsoever. Since then, I padded it and adjusted the hooks, and hiked up the neck strap. Looks a little better since then.

Maybe I'll play with the padding and angle/move in the neck straps and see if that makes a significant improvement.

Unfortunately, cleavage is not my middle name. I legitimately have nothing on top. So I can pad until the cows come home and still hardly resemble an A cup

I'll post pics once I've made my adjustments.

I agree that "too tall" is a good explanation for what seems a little "off" - maybe about 1" too tall. If you're as skillful with a needle and thread as you are visually and in your writing, perhaps you can adjust and add a little beaded trim?? (It looks to me that the design might be slightly different on each cup, it appears the one on your left would might allow for it, not sure about the other, I am probably wrong, they are probably symmetrical.) Obviously the costume looks stunning on you with this one exception.

If there's blood in your coffee, you've got way bigger problems than an ill-fitted top! Sorry, I have been up for a few hours working on a short story about a crazy dancer. It's my break away from the novel. I'm probably rambling, too. I need to eat something.

    Mayliz - A short story about a crazy dancer? Sounds like a day in the life of my blog ,r:;

Devora - Could you go into a little detail about how you'd add the beaded trim? Would you go inside the bra and remove some of the excess bra, then cover and re-bead? Sorry, I'm a little bit "slow"

i like this picture. you look different from your other pictures. you sometimes look sexy and wild (which i like too). this you look very womanly. like the pretend wedding dress picture

no the bra is not too big. but... your hips look small in this skirt so i guess that's why you think the bra looks big? any way you can alter the skirt to make hips look bigger so there is a better balance?

    Wingaki,

That's actually an excellent point, and something I never would have thought of on my own. That skirt is very slinky and makes my hips look itty-bitty in comparison. Not sure how to compensate for this.

And thanks for the pic-love! Maybe it's the big hair that makes me look more womanly. I have a tendency to wear it straight.

The top does look a little big. Perhaps a little padding along the outside to push your cleavage more to the center?

I'm thinking of maybe sacrificing a Wonderbra and sewing the cups into this bra for added oomph.

Or possibly doing a more complicated surgical procedure. I wonder if there's any way I can go in there and remove an inch from the top of the bra. Stitching it back together might be a pain, but I love this costume too much to part with it.

I think it looks a tiny bit big, but fixable big. If you play with the padding and straps, I think you can get it to work.

However, I honestly think it would be a bit more flattering if it were little, because then you would have less contrast with your small hips and you could play up your "I'm a slinky little sex goddess" look. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, that style of skirt looks great on you.

Re: Now My Turn - Is This Bra Too Big?

Ok girlfriend. As your petite doppleganger, and a fellow small-cupper, I can tell you that in this pic, the top looks a tad overpowering compared to your slim hips BUT I don't think all is lost. I can wear a D cup on my little tiny girls if I take the sucker and put pillow stuffing (not kidding) in the bra until it actually has a convex shape on the inside of the cup (i.e. sticks out toward me on the inside). I guess it's sort of what you might do if you'd had a mastectomy (I say this because one of my troupemates had to do that after her bout with breast cancer a while back). Once you pad it to death, then see if you can pull the center together a bit more, that will give you max cleavage and help avoid the side-gap issue. Finally, make sure it's a halter style, and make it REALLY tight in the ribcage & the neck.

Girl, if I can make a D cup fit me, I know you can make this stunner fit you. Now, go buy my snakeskin bella so I can go buy the green bella I'm eyeing over in the swapmeet.

Re: Now My Turn - Is This Bra Too Big?

Wow, it's a amazing what the generosity of Bhuzzers (and a little Yankee Ingenuity can do!).

So I took the bra apart, temporarily slipped the cups of a Frederick's of Hollywood X-bra in (those bras are boobie magic), pinned everything into place where it should be - and I think we have a winner.

I really think half of the problem is the way the cups form kind of a funny peak at the top corners. Moving the straps in lessens the visual effect of being too "tall," and the padding fills me out.

I'm going to fool around with this a little more and hopefully post pics of the improvement.

Re: Now My Turn - Is This Bra Too Big?

Wow, you did not waste any time! (Maybe you're planning to wear this for a Friday night gig, LOL!)

Re my earlier comment referencing adding "beading," I just meant that if the reshaping of the bra top results in a less than optimum compliment to the existing beaded design on the cups and it seems to look slightly amiss, that adding a thin beaded trim (picking up any noticeable bead color used in the costume) might be the thing that makes it work (does that make sense?).

In the meantime, it seems you've found more creative and probably less invasive solutions, I'm looking forward to seeing the result.

Re the skirt, I concur with the others, it is fabulous on you, if I could get away with that style I would do so in a hot minute! (IMO the main requirement for that style is to have lean-looking legs, preferably well-toned.)
