"What are you working on?" July 2009

    Time for a new thread!

Maybe starting this thread will motivate me to get back to some projects. I've been sidetracked for a couple of months.

Here's June's thread. (With a recent addition by Dunyah - check it out! It's lovely.)

    Previous Working On threads.

    I am working on everything.

    Cave Girl Bedlah for Eshe.
Starting on two alteration projects for Ezma.
Orange "one step above airport special" fixer upper.
Last touches on the Fixer-uper insane red pharonix (will hold off on making the skirt).

And two, count them, two, recently purchased vintage sets are coming my way.

Now that I've finished my leopard cossie, my new project is called Blue Jewel. The belt is going to look similar in shape to the Pharonics spiraling jewels, but I'm doing the bra a little differently. I'm planning on attaching a chiffon skirt to the belt. Here are a couple of photos with and without flash of the fabric, swarvoskis and sequins.

Oh my goodness, I think that's the same fabric I'm using right now for my Bubbles costume.

I love the fun beads you've worked into the orange, Ozma. I love quirky and surprising. And the lining! I need to start doing that to satisfy my craving for working with printed cotton.

Adishakti - great beading on the green! I'm such a beginner at beading. I really admire what you are doing on that one.

Currently working on purple troupe costume. I added an inch to the top of the bra cup and then 3! Inches to the bottom of the skirt. Just finishing off the beading.

I've abandoned my pearl costume, but I totally need to get back into it!

You all are awe-inspiring...you know that don't you?

I have to make my scrubs for work! Take in some clothing. So once again, I might not get to my belly dance projects until much later.

But, I will enjoy watching everyone's creations this month!

Okay I've been meaning to go over what's in my closet and either make it work or make it go away.

I have this Beyond the Basics II from Dahlal and I need to keep the gold (cause who doesn't like gold.)

Here's the belt pre-surgery (sorry for the crappy pics I'm working on my blackberry camera at the moment.)

And here's the 3" I've managed to improve while consuming an entire bottle of prosecco.

That could very well be if you shop at Jo-ann's. I'm planning on using the lining fabric that goes with it to make a pair of harem pants to go underneath the sheer skirt. I'm also going to layer the lining under the fabric on the bra and do some ruching on it. I think I may just use the lining fabric on the belt as I'm planning on fully beading it. It's going to have circular cutouts on it that will be line with nude mesh.

I am finally starting on my fall collection which is called Bombshell and every piece is inspired by something worn in an old movie. I am currently working on the Jean Harlow one. I have 7 to make by November eeeeeek!!!
And they are getting shown at the nationals in D.C. so I will post pics soon. I have all my sketches done at least. All this in addition to my custom order list which is now 20 customers long!! Oh dear....

Yep, it's from JoAnn. I've made a full skirt and it is quite sheer, so need an underskirt. (I wish the Casa Collection fabrics had something the same weight as the fabric that Pharaonix uses for their skirts.) I covered the bra and belt first with some turquoise glitter stretch fabric (from JoAnn a couple years ago) I had left over from another project and then ruched the duco chiffon on top like the bra of my Spiraling Jewels. Not doing any cutouts, but am keeping things round for the decor. I'm sure my beading will be much, much simpler than yours. Bought lots of 8mm and 12mm AB crystal Swarovskis. I would LOVE to find swag fringe for this!

Where is Dani and her No Bugs Rule?

(I have a bedlah with chunky beading that has a dolphin bead!)

Oh, and Ozma, can I tell you how much I hate you because you got my two vintage costumes from Bellybliss? I tell you, I was going to sacrifice my son for those! ;-)
