No don't cut that much off

Hate it when my stylist chops my bangs too short. I told her, I want them to stop right above my eyebrows. And pointed, showed her. i have Frankenstein forehead. too short and things start getting scary. stop above the eyebrow is the best look for me.

So she clipped and we chatted. And suddenly I thought, she's clipping an awful lot. Yeah. They stop a full inch above my eyebrows. Toeing the Frankenstein line, barely falling on the side of safety.

I can make it work for performance - go pinup with it - but I can't stroll into the day job (law firm) looking like a drag queen doing Bette Page.

Just wanted to grumble. On the plus side, my stylist was way excited about my business cards & asked for several to give to her other clients. So I guess it was something of a trade off. Next time no talking til she's done. ..l;,

You gotta watch them like a hawk. I hate talking to my stylist because of this. Mine is a friend but she also has a vision of what she thinks I should look like, all innocent, and it's not how I see myself. It drives me nuts. I always ended up reshaping my own bangs.

Next time I am going back to my old stylist who has a clearer image of what I want. I'm so glad she moved back to town. I barely have to explain myself and she will make me look amazing.

Thank goodness bangs grow out fast. Although it does feel like the slowest process ever. I let mine grow out again.

this is why with someone who's 'newest' hairstyle is bangs, i have my mom cut my hair! sounds like i'm a loser, i know (lol), but hey, she knows what i want and has yet to screw anything up. since she cut me my bangs the way i liked them (small wispy ones), i cut those myself and let her take care of the rest as far as trimming a few inches every couple of months

know what you mean. my old stylist was awesome. i sit in the chair & we chatter away & I know when i get up i'll look great. he's 2hrs away now though.

this new one isn't bad, she usually gives a good cut. i think maybe she was tired & then we got to talking & she spaced. it's not horrible, but if i get chased with pitchforks & torches I'll post pics.

I almost always cut my own bangs. The few times I let someone else to it I regretted it. (There have been times when I've actually trimmed my bangs before going to get the rest of my hair cut!)

I'm glad that I am not the only one that is particular about the bangs...my hair stylist knows me (gee, I've had her for about 25 years!). But I still have to watch her when she does the bangs. I also like it when they are about the eyebrow level. I realize that I have to trim them myself now and then when they get to the eyeballs, but I would rather have them on the longer side than short and showing too much of my forehead.

i've tried to cut mine before. i wound up just making myself miserable with the butcher job i did & then had to let grow out. i'm far better off paying $5 to have a trained professional do it.

I cut mine too because I also want them no shorter than my eyebrows as I have a lot of collicks and the weight of them being a little longer corrects this. I probably would look better with them a little shorter but I can't do it.

What I do to cut them is not straight across but I hold a section straight out in front of me, then cut a millimeter at a time. This makes them more tapered and gives them a little more fullness instead of the Betty Page look. I've seen this on other people and it looks great - on them. On me, I look like that older woman trying to look younger, and it hardens and really squares my face too much.

Is your stylist using pressure during the cut? By this I mean, do they have the hair pulled tight down and taught, before cutting. If so, you should ask them not to use pressure, because the hair just springs back up after the pressure is released and so the cut is a lot shorter than it intially seemed to the stylist.

While this approach doesn't matter on the back of the head, for a precision job like your bangs (US word) / fringe (UK word) it's really important.

I think she had it fine until we got to chatting about dance then she spaced and I think we maybe realized about the same time she'd clipped a little too much/long. Because we looked at ea other at the same moment of realization & she stopped. It's not horrid, just shorter than I like. Like I have a choice anyway, until it grows out. ..l;,

When visiting UK many moons ago I got my hair done there at a trendy little salon in London. Before going in, I was earnestly coached by my fellow American friends who'd been living in London & going to school there to NOT say 'bangs'. I was told it's 'fringe' - bangs are your ta-tas. .w.:

If I ever saw my stylist applying pressure, I would literally jump out of the chair before she/he started cutting! That has got to be NO-NO 101!!!
