    IBTC members: Cup measurement question

Found a costume another dancer has that I like but the cups are 1/2" larger horizontally than my largest costume top. But also 1/4" shorter vertically.

I've a 29 ribcage & the costume I'm looking at is 5.5" vertical, 8" horizontal. My largest top right now is 5.5" vertical, 7.5" horizontal. Second largest is 5.75" vertical, 7" horizontal.

Will 1/2" - 1" larger make that much difference do you think? I'm testing waters of how large I can go and still fit well, look good, & not looking ridiculous/obvious that there's a mountain of padding in it.

I find that the shape of the cups is more important than the measurements. Is this a cup shape that you know is flattering to you or is it one that gives you more challenges for your particular shape?

Thanks Tamra. I really need to get in the habit of taking into consideration cup shape, too. It's very very similar to cups on a Noussa I've got, which happens to be 1" smaller horizonally. After trying it on, I think it'd work. The only differences being the Noussa has two pieces that hold the cups together and neck strap as well as shoulder straps. Tried on Noussa without the shoulder straps, using neck/halter only and I think it'll work. I may want/need a 2nd piece joining the cups for more stability, though, but something small like that I can make.

The one I'm looking at has 1 piece across the bottom joining cups together, and shoulder straps only. Yep. I almost always have to add another piece if there's only a small strip joining the cups at the bottom. I just don't have enough "girls" to fill up the cups and keep them from gapping without it.

I hear ya, I don't have enough girls to fill one cup without it gaping. That's why my cry was to fellow members of IBTC.

I just emailed the person - because at $125, new, shipping included, it's hard for me to pass it up if all I'll really need to do is add a piece. Shoot, for that price I could make a set of shoulder straps if I wanted to. ..l;,

Re: IBTC members: Cup measurement question

There is the issue of not filling the cups up or having them gape open, and then there is the issue of having the underwire positioned under your armpit because the cups are too wide....
